OKW over Christmas
Well it was our first visit as DVC members and the party comprised of me, mother, father, sister and nephew. My sister and I are the members.
We stayed at OKW and have to say that we were very impressed. We arrived after a 10 hour flight from the UK (incredibly long flight path) and were shattered. Unfortunately our only request, a quiet 3rd floor room could not be accommodated. We got a 2nd floor in South Point and the road was very noisy, but as we were not in the room much it didnít bother us. We did ask for an alternative but were told that all rooms were already allocated and that was that.
Instead of a day by day account I'll give you the highs and lows:
We went to the Premium Outlet Mall and managed to get so many brilliant things. Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss, Kenneth Cole and many other wonderful stores were there, we would definitely go again. We also went to the Mall at Millenia and the Florida Mall (expensive but a great shopping experience, they have the biggest Tiffany's I have ever been in). We thoroughly enjoyed our shopping experience in Orlando!.
The parks were absolutely packed from 15 December right through until 28 December when we checked out. We took advantage as much as we could of the early and late hours as these make it possible to go on a fair few rides before the crowds arrive.
Was brilliant but packed. We went to MVMCP and that was very good, the holiday fireworks and parade were the best. Our favourite ride is still Splash Mountain and the Thunder Mountain train.
This park never changes much so we only spent a few hours there. Went to Fantasmic, which was still very good.
Great park, went on a fair few rides without ever waiting much.
Cirque du Soleil
Second time we have seen this show. Was still brilliant and although it is quite costly I would recommend it to anyone.
Was great and well worth doing. You have a great view and it's lovely cruising around the two lakes.
Both of my parents are 70 and both asthmatics. At the start of the holiday it was quite humid and they were a bit apprehensive about hiring the electric wheelchairs, but my father did and consequently was a able to go everywhere without getting out of breath. Unfortunately my mother did not want to hire one as she said she could manage and consequently her asthma got out of control and she ended up in hospital. If it's humid in any way and you have elderly people with you please try and advise them to hire the chairs as there's no stigma attached to it and it could save them a trip to the ER.
We were on the DDP and were worried about the quality of food and service, but these fears proved to be unfounded, although the menu choices had changed considerably. Although service was included we tipped extra on all occasions as the service we received really was very good. We found it impossible to use all of our credits and at the end of the holiday we had 20 counter service and 17 snack credits left. It was just impossible to use them all. Unfortunately we could not go into the shop and buy loads of biscuits etc to take back as our suitcases were already full with all the shopping we had done. The DDP was very good value but there really is too much food to eat. I would also advise everybody to book in adance as we witnessed many people being turned away as restanrants were full.
Great food, cocktails and service
Cape May Cafť
Lovely character breakfast - great service
Before DDP we used to order a few different dishes for all to share and try different flavours. You now get one choice which is put on your plate together with a portion of rice. The food was good though and the service brilliant.
We went for breakfast and it had lots of choices which were all very tasty, although we went at 10.30 so dishes were being run down.
Cinderella's Royal Table
It was great to be in the castle but the menu was very limited and to my mind is not worth 2 table service credits. Our server was very attentive.
Hollywood Brown Derby
Was a tad disappointed with this restaurant, not worth 2 credits at all. The food was OK but nothing brilliant. It was also freezing in there.
We only decided on this restaurant after reading reviews on the dining forum and we were really glad that we did. It was brilliant and had so many wonderful choices. The service was great and we tried to book again for another night but there was nothing available. This is probably my favourite restaurant in Disney now and I would recommend it to anybody. We all had different dishes and all thoroughly enjoyed them.
Chefs de France
This used to be my favourite restaurant and it's still very good. I was very apprehensive as they have cut the menu down, but apart from a few dishes being unavailable it was still very good, just not many choices. We had a great young waiter as well.
Brilliant location and dinner. The server seemed to have too many people to look after and made a few mistakes, but the food was good and overall well worth 2 credits.
Food quality was a disappointment, but not too bad. Not really worth 2 credits. Service and ambience was good though.
All in all we had a brilliant time and look forward to returning to OKW next year.

Thanks for the reviews! I'm glad you had a nice time in WDW! We love OKW almost as much as we love the Boardwalk! Cirque is a great show, and I think everyone should see it at least once. Did you like it as much as you did the first time you saw it? We did a Wishes cruise too, and it was awesome!
Happy New Year!

Glad you had a good time. Sorry to hear about your mom, I'm glad she's okay.
I wish all the resort staff's were as helpful and nice as the folks at OKW. SSR is close, but the staff at OKW is tops. They should be used to train the good people at the GF how to run a resort!

Yes we liked Cirque as much as the first time, they had changed minor bits but my favourites are still the trampolines, the Chinese girls and the guy flying around on red silk. It's just fascinating to watch.
