Island of the Caribbean Pirate Adventure vs. Grand Floridian Pirate Adventure

I've seen posts about the pirate adventure but has anyone done the Island of the Caribbean Pirate Adventure? I booked the first months ago then cancled today and rebooked the second thinking it sounded a little funner. maybe cause it's with a known theme..not sure! anyone have kids who have done this one?

when I booked my DD on the pirate adventure the reservationist said they were all the same type of cruises . They just have a different name for it depending on what location the cruise is leaving from. I asked them the same question because I saw these
Albatross Treasure Cruise that leaves from the Yacht and Beach Club Dock on Wednesday and Friday.

Disney's Pirate Adventure - Grand Floridian Dock on Mondays, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Island of the Caribbean Pirate Cruise - Caribbean Beach Resort Dock on Tuesdays.
Sassagoula River Adventure Cruise

and I was confused if they were all different or something. I hope this helps

Our son has done all three. He enjoyed each one. The one at CBR was the smallest group and the GF was the largest. I think the Albatross one seems to be coolest because they take you into the Epcot WS before opening. I really don't think you can go wrong with any of them. My son just told me he liked the CBR's better, but you do have to take into account that he just idd that one and he did the GF last summer.

Do they get bandanas/pirate ears at any of the cruises except the GF? That was the thing that decided for us last year, but they want to try another one next year.

Thanks that does help. We are booked for the Caribbean pirate adventure next month.

Does any one know what the treasure is? Just wondering.

On the GF Cruise (and I'm guessing it's all the same), it was junk that kids love....beads, plastic rings, "gold" coins, etc. My kids loved it! Me, not so much. We went right before we left to come home, and that stuff was strung all over the care by the time we drove 15 hours home.

On the Albatross Cruise, our son got a felt Mickey ears covered with red silk bandana type hat. On the GF cruise, he got a soft striped, pretied bandana with ears sticking out of it. On the CBR cruise he got a regular bandana with pirate type print on it that the CM's tied on for them. At each cruide he got a little chest with fake jewels,, coins and general patry favor swag.

Has anyone done the one out of POR since they changed it to a pirate theme? It used to be the Sassagoula River Adventure and was jester themed. Now it's the Bayou Pirate Adventure, or something like that, and is pirate themed... Jean LaFitte I think. I booked it for DD since we're staying at POFQ and cancelled our GF pirate cruise. I hope I didn't mess up, LOL. I haven't seen any reviews. Maybe she'll be the only child on the boat? LOL, it doesn't appear that anyone else does this one.

POR pirate cruise

My boys took the cruise out of POR 2 weeks ago. They all really enjoyed it. They got bandanas with a pirate themed print. They ended up at Downtown Disney sarching for their treasure around the House of Blues.

They also stopped at OKW amd "some resort with sea monster themed pool."
I just asked my oldest if he would recommend the cruise and he said he would and to tell you there is a nice lunch (peanut butter and jelly uncrustable, apple juice and goldfish crackers.)

My kids (boy and girl) loved the one at CBR. We ate breakfast outside on the patio and watched them as they went around the lake. It was fun and the guy that runs it is so nice!! I think they had more fun with the treasure "junk" that comes in the bag than other things we did at Disney.

We just got home last night. DD 4 going on 5 did her POR cruise on Sunday. She was tired after 10 days on vacation and a little hesitant to go... okay, a lot hesitant. She fussed and whined, refused to get out of the stroller. I bribed her and at least got her in line. Then she refused to wear the bandana and looked as if she was going to cry. An absolutely wonderful CM working on the cruise (sorry, I don't recall her name at the moment but I think it's in my photos that I haven't uploaded yet) got down on her level, took her hand and spoke so softly to her. She managed to not only convince her to go on the cruise, but even got her to wear the bandana, the name tag, and allowed her to take her little Figaro kitty with her on the cruise. She took her over to get a life vest, holder her hand the entire time, and by the time the boat pulled away from the dock DD was sitting on the front seat with another little girl smiling from ear to ear and waving.

About ten minutes before they were due back I went downriver (towards POFQ, is that down? or up?) to see if I could catch them coming back. I did. They were passing little Sea Raycer boats and very loud "Aarghs" were coming from the boat, LOL, hilarious and oh so cute! Then the 'captain' spotted me on the riverbank and I could hear him saying to the kids, "there's a mom over there, wave to her" LOL, and they did.

After they disembarked back at the marina they removed their life vests and headed into the lobby for the final stage of their treasure hunt. There they found and unlocked the huge treasure chest and each got a bag of treasures -- a rubber ball, tattoos, beads, a pirate loot sack of coins, some plastic rings and a rubber pirate duck.

DD loved it, absolutely loved it. Two thumbs up!
