I think wise minds think alike. My son is 8 and autistic also. I tried showing him the zebra cake. He said" zebras taste yuk. Mickey cake please." So mickey cake it is.He will have his wish even though its my anniv.

So - I can call the cake hotline and order the slipper dessert for my DD to have at our GardenView Lounge Tea? Can anyone post a photo of this dessert for me?

We're not sure yet if the cake hot line is going to be just cakes or if they'll also handle the slipper dessert. The hot line is so new we just don't know yet.

My guess though is for this you might have to call the GF bakery directly but I'd try the hot line first. They'll be an option for the GF resort. Press that and go from there.

Yes, too early. I was told by the girl at CBR that I should call within the month that we arrive with at least 48 hours notice.

Thank you so much for this thread! It had given me some great ideas for my son's 3rd birthday. My problem is my husband... He doesn't feel a cake is worth the extra money because we are having a family party for him at home and a small party at his preschool. So the question is, is the small "extras" they give like a cupcake enough for a 3 year-old that is very aware of his birthday and the need for cake when having a birthday party?

He already knows we are going to Disney in October for his birthday and says we are going to have cake and he is going to make a wish. He acts out the whole thing. It is adorable! BUT I am worried that a cupcake at Chef Mickey or something else they may bring when they know it is a child's birthday may not be enough. I saw some pics of cupcakes on this thread... Was that one of those magical extras they provided or was it ordered, bought, and paid for???? Please advice! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!

My cupcake at Chef Mickey's was included (and a surprise since I am a grown up). Mark the bday on the ressie and maybe make a discreet mention at check in and you will be good to go! Also, those $12.50 pre made cakes really aren't that bad. We had one at Garden Grille (that was pre-arranged not requested at check in) and it wasn't frozen looking or tasting.

Hi there! Magic happens when you least expect it. But then again don't go "expecting it". That is my absolute best advice. He will more than likely get a cupcake with a candle on it. But if you want a cake or something more special, I advise you plan ahead and make it happen.

It is my understanding that at Chef Mickey's they offer a small cake, no frills, that has Mickey on it. But it must be ordered and paid for. Perhaps someone who has purchased such a cake can elaborate.

I don't mean to burst you r bubble. I just don't want you or your son to be dissappointed. I wish you lots of "Magic" just the same.

Your son will be thrilled with a cupcake - once he sees Mickey and the Gang, he will be a goner anyway A fancy bday cake for him will really be for YOU anyway So either order it if you have your heart set on it, or appease your husband and just have the bday noted on your ADR. Also mention it at check-in and make sure your son has on his birthday badge!!!

Anyone know about the brownie bday cake seen on this thread? It looks really small... Wondering if it is like the cupcake or is it a small cake that was ordered?? Also wanted to know where the pic was taken???
