Official DIS Hidden Mickey FAQ Thread - With Pictures!!!
From time to time, there are threads about Hidden Mickeys started and then abandoned, so I thought it was time that we had an "Official" thread on the topic! I hope that everyone will help me to keep this post going by adding their own stories and pictures of Hidden Mickey's and keeping the craze alive!
According to the DIS - "Rumor has it that 'Hidden Mickey's' were started as in inside joke of the Disney Imagineers. No matter if they were intentional or accidental, there's nothing like spotting one to bring a smile." A Hidden Mickey is an image of Mickey Mouse (or other Disney Character) concealed in the design of a Disney attraction (ride, resort, etc...). There are two types of "Hidden Mickey's." The traditional 3 circles that form Mickey's head - Like this one from the Poly: And the 2nd form is usually a little more difficult to spot - Like this one from the Great Movie Ride (Specific directions on Page 2): Finding "Mickey" (or Donald or Pluto or Baloo or Jafar or...) is one of my favorite things to do at WDW! Whenever a ride is updated or added - the first thing I do is try to figure out if any new HMs are added! (or lost  - like the one that used to be outside Alien Encounter!)There is some debate as to what is and what is Not a Hidden Mickey - Sometimes they circles are not quite proportional or touching or whatever! Some are more "decorative Mickeys" - as in obvious! But, that does not mean that it is not hidden from someone else! The details of Walt Disney World is what keeps us going back (and back and back and...) Steven Barrett has an excellent book entitled: "Hidden Mickeys: A Field Guide to Walt Disney World's Best Kept Secrets." It has 2 editions in print and has a great website on HMs - including a great history on how they started! www.hiddenmickeysguide.com . Another resource is www.hiddenmickeys.org - but I find that site a little difficult to navigate - and sometimes outdated! But, it's worth checking out as well! So, let's "find" the Hidden Mickeys! Let's hear some stories, let's see some DIS pictures, and hopefully we can make this a really great thread! Here's one of my favorites from Buzz Lightyear - Planet Pollost Prime is in the queue area right out for everyone to see, but I'll bet thousands of people walk right by it every day!

Wow, great Hidden Mickey pics! I know many of them off the top of my head, but I don't have any photos. I will be sure to take some next month. I was able to find the Mickey & Donald hieroglyphic once on TGMR, and for some reson can never find it again, from your pic I now can concentrate on that one area. I love that one!

Hey Cass/Timon - Glad you found my post - and hope that you'll be posting some pics here as well! Your site is awesome - I'm just not that computer literate so I thought we needed a DIS thread for HMs! The Poly HM is the tile on the floor just inside the main doors in front of the Water Falls - It's one of my favorites b/c it means that I'm at my favorite resort!
Baloo - Your HM is at the AK - Kinda behind the Tamu Tamu refreshment stand. It's near Africa on the other side from where all the drums are on the backside of the Tree of Life. If you have seen where Baloo & King Louie come out for their meet & greet, then it's right there on the other side of the wall in a picnic/dining area - and it is sometimes hidden behind that curtain that you see in my picture!
