Beth Haworth and WDW Savings Guide

I was wondering if anyone has read or owns the WDW Savings Guide book written by Beth Haworth?

I consider myself pretty Disney savvy, along with a lot of other great folks on this board. I think I know most of the ways to get discounts, etc.

On her website she claims she paid roughly 1100.00 for 10 nights at a deluxe resort during peak 2006 season when the rack rate was almost 3200.00. I have thought about this statement and for the life of me can't figure out how she got that rate.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

it is an e-book. It has the same old as most other books, no super secrets here. Better off with some of the other books like unofficial guide or birnbaum. Didn't save myself much money having to print out the 97 pages. Just my opinion.

Could she have gotten that rate by renting DVC points? I bought a similar e-book on ebay and that's how they claimed to have gotten the rate. Hope this helps!

Wish I had read these before I bought. How do you contact her for a refund since it's 100% satisfaction guaranteed? If I can't get a refund, how do I get the updates?

Let me just show an example of how a lot of these "gurus" advertise.

The ad. CW4d, the savings Guru will show you how Disney will actually pay a family of 4 to stay at one of its hotels. I have more insider secrets Disney doesn't want me to share with you. Just $19.95.

Reality.
We paid rack rate at pop. Offsetting the value of our meal checks for free dining against that comes out to a negative number. I'm not counting ticket costs.

Two Words

RIP OFF

The only "saving" this book does is by allowing the author to "save" for her next vacation.

This woman at one point had her web page saying that she woulld tell you how to use ME for "Selected" Disney resorts. Why would you need to pay her and which resorts were "selected"??

(And just in case, the Disney On A Dime book which you will see in bookstores.. RIP OFF. )

I am pretty sure she sends you to the DIS DVC Rent/Trade board to rent points...... (Original idea isnt' it?)
From what I have heard she is also big on the AP rate, but the "discounts" she uses are larger then the current one. More like the ones a few years ago.

The key words are "rack rate". The rack rate is not what you get when you call reservations. It's an inflated rate that is often, but not always, posted on a sign inside the room. I've seen rack rates over $100 for $40 rooms. There's the big secret. No one pays rack rate except if the city/hotel is selling out and the competition raises the rates. Here's an explanation I found.

"The standard price of a hotel room before any discount has been taken, usually artificially high. Rooms rarely sell for the rack rate unless the property is virtually full or a special event is taking place."

I was a dunce and ordered this last year. I had been on theses boards only a couple months and didn't learn ANYTHING from her. I really was sorry I spent the money, it was nothing I didn't get from here for free, and some was plain old common sense.

Her really big tips are things like save money by booking in Value season (duh) and rent DVC points which has already been posted...I wish I could remember more but I don't have it on the computer anymore. I spent most of the time reading it thinking I was an idiot to have bought into the "insider secrets" garbage.

Charging to look at your agenda

I saw someone on ebay that offered, for a mere $40, to look over your proposed Disney agenda and give you ideas of how to improve it. Think of the bucks us DISers are giving away for free!!

I bought the book and did not learn anything of real value that I did not find in other places. This site is one of the best for getting FREE advice and tips. Also, the only thing she frequently updates is the ticket savings which you can find at other free places. SAVE YOUR MONEY!
