Crystal Palace Character Breakfast

Our very first character breakfast! This was our November 2005 trip. Our PS was at 8:00am sharp, and we were there 10 minutes early out of sheer excitement. The CP CMs were still preparing the restaurant when we arrived, so we wandered the Magic Kingdom and took photos. It was so much fun walking down an empty Main Street and taking pictures of ourselves in front of Cinderella's Castle without anyone else in the background!

When the CP opened, we were the second family ushered in. It was only minutes until we were filling plates with character waffles, eggs, fruit and other excellent breakfast goodies. Most items were at least as good as a typical pancake house breakfast -- some were extraordinary. DH didn't like the coffee much, but he's picky about his brew. Every person in our family -- with widely varying dietary needs (a diabetic and a 7-year-old) -- found something to be excited about. And... since it was first-thing in the morning, no lines at the buffet!

A darling honeymoon couple was on our right, table decorated with heart-shaped glitter and matching bride/groom Mickey ears. And a great big mixed group of adults and kids was nearby laughing and enjoying themselves audibly. The atmosphere was festive and everyone (guests and CMs) there had a joyous attitude (isn't that important when you're trying to relax?).

As we ate, each character arrived in turn, no more than 10 minutes apart. So few families were there, we were never rushed with any of them. DS7 got a hug, and autograph and a photo with each character. I thought he might be too "cool" to be excited by Pooh and Tigger, but he became a little kid again. Watching him smile and giggle at Piglet and Eeyore was the best part for me. He's not so grown up after all...

By the time we were ready for seconds, the crowd was growing and the food lines were lengthening. We lingered over coffee for a few more minutes, then headed out to the still-closed park. We were able to wait right at the Tomorrowland rope and ride at least 4 attractions before lines started to grow. Early mornings are the way to do it!

Loved your review. We have an ADR at CP for 8:05am when the park opens at 9am. How early will they let you into the park? We would like to get there the suggested 10 mins ahead plus an extra 5-10 mins for pictures of the empty park.

I'm sure someone else knows the exact rule, but I recall it was somewhere around 7:45am that they let us in. Plenty of time for pictures.
