Maybe room service is in order. Cheaper too!

As you said, your bus will be around 9:30. You're supposed to be out there 15 minutes early. I really don't see how you'd make it work.

I wouldn't try it. In 2010, we decided to have our kids pictures drawn in the lobby of POR before we left Disney. We didn't realize how long it would take. The bus arrived, the artist was finishing, then DH had to pay. We held up the bus for 10 minutes. We didn't mean to, but we were stuck in the middle of it. We were going to get our luggage off the bus, take a cab, something, but kept thinking any second we'd be done. Anyway, the bus driver was very angry. We were embarrassed and upset. It wasn't a nice way to end the trip. I felt terrible. Stressed me out completely!

If you schedule an 8:40 breakfast, and you eat very quickly, and you don't bother to stick around for all of the characters, you might be able to make it back to the resort by 10:00, but you would definitely still miss your bus. I know it's not what you want to hear, but you really need to shoot for being back at the resort no later than 9:00.

Even if you were able to snag an ADR for 8:00, you won't be able to do it. Just forget about heading to a park, and eat something at the Contempo Cafe. Take all your carryon bags with you, eat your breakfast, then head down to the DME bus stop by 9:15. Much better idea...this way you won't be rushed and frantic!!! |

Small/petty question - I just got my booklet from Magical Express, it has the sticky yellow tags, but in 2010 when we went it also had "Castle" luggage tags-- are they still doing that? My kids love those, and just got new suitcases!
Also, our flight is set to arrive at 9:17, so I know we are on the fringe for the 10pm cutoff. If the flight lands later, and the yellow tags are on the bags, will we still be able to claim them at the airport? And, if the plane does land on time, and DME claims our luggage, I know it takes a couple of hours-- do they really deliver it to your room at midnight? Or do they hold it until the morning? THANK YOU!!!

If your plane lands ontime at 9:17, your yellow tagged bags will be collected. But, if your flight is delayed, the bags will not be collected and should go to the regular baggage claim carousels. The time can vary greatly. If you're at Pop, or another value resort, you may not get your bags until the next morning...their luggage delivery service is slow at best and it does shut down late at night. On the other hand, the deluxe resorts deliver baggage all night long. So, yeah, it could be midnight when the bags arrive...possibly later. It's up to 3 hrs after resort checkin, not airport arrival. So, if you land at 9:17, you should be at your resort by 10:30-11. Which means your luggage might not arrive until past 1am!!! You can have it held until the morning. I would tell the CM at the front desk that you want your luggage held until the next morning. Then, tell Bell Services/Luggage Assistence. When you get to your room, hang out the 'privacy please' hanger on your door. That way, if everyone misses the memo to not deliver until the next day, and they show up with your stuff at 1:30am, they won't knock...they'll just turn around and take the bags back. There will be a message on your phone when you wake up telling you that your bags are ready to be delivered. |

BTW, thanks guys for the advice. I've never used DME to go to the airport, only once to get to WDW from the airport so I wasn't sure of what was what. I'll DEFINITELY be doing room service or the contemp that last morning.
THANKS! |

Great advice here! I apologize if this question is a repeat. When I received my yellow tags, I too thought I could cut it and make 2 out of 1. Now I know you can't. I leave in 8 days, is it to late to call DME to get additional tags. Would it be best to just to get a claim ticket and give it to them the day we fly? Thanks

I would take a chance and call - the luggage tags usually arrive really quickly. I think there is a good chance you will have them before you leave. If not, just get a claim ticket for the unmarked bags. |

Understanding DME
Hi guys
First thanks to everyone who post answers on here it really helps I'm trying to figure out DME and what we should do we will have 3 suitcase, 1 stroller, 1 car seat and 1 very active little one. We are Canada and landing at 7h45pm going to Pop my understanding is that our plane will land at terminal A and DME is on the other side of the airport in terminal B Best thing for us if possible would be to have our suitcase with us on the bus so we would not have to bring extra stuff on the plane for when we get to the resort. Our choices are: 1- We tag all of our suitcase with DME tag and pack extra clothes in our backpack and have are suitcase deliver to our room hopefullly before midnight. if we do this we only need to walk around the airport with our backpack stroller and car seat. 2- We don't use the DME tag and pick up our 3 suitcases at bagage claim and walk from terminal A to terminal B with 3 suitcase a stroller and a car seat this is the scenario i'm trying to avoid... 3- Maybe i'm mistaken but if i understand right i think i read that there's a third scenario we could do, we could not use our DME tag walk from terminal A to terminal B with only our stroller and car seat go to DME desk and with a suitcase description they could go and pick up our suitcase at bagage claim and bring them to the DME bus, is that true? did i understand right? if i understood right would we be able to take our suitcase right of the bus when we get to Pop resort? After reading my post i think scenario 1 sounds the best let me know if you have more idea or comments Thanks for you help! Rafale |

The scenario 3 you listed I don't think is possible; I think what you have been reading about a bag description scenario is when your bag isn't tagged for some reason; they will locate it and deliver it later, not to you on the bus. Scenario 1 is what the DME service is intended to provide, a "magical" baggage service, if it works for you and you arrive early enough. Landing at 7:45pm should be fine. You are absolutely right that you should pack essentials into a backpack so you have them with you. Scenario 2 is less convenient concerning dragging bags around, but you do have your bags with you so you have everything when you check in. For cosnideration when you arrive during the day you may not need or want all your luggage. But when you arrive at night, you might. One thing to consider is that the terminal A and B business is not as daunting as it may sound. At MCO all the actual gates require you to take a monorail into a central building, which has two sides terminal A and terminal B. You don't pick up your bags until after you ride the monorail.

Option 3 would come into play for someone who didn't get their tags in time or who has more luggage than tags (you only get one per person). In that case, you would go to the DME desk and give them your claim ticket and a description of your luggage, but as jcarwash said, your luggage would still be delivered to your resort, not your bus.

So, you arrive on Side A of the terminal. It's not that big a deal.....just take the stroller, with the baby in it, carry the car seat and head to Side B..just across the middle area. Go down to level 1 (you arrived on level 3)..there are elevators just past the escalators and stairs. Take the elevator down to 1, hop off and walk down to DME. When you get to the bus, the stroller and car seat will go beneath your bus. Easy peasy. BUT...you can not send someone to get your untagged bags and have them brought to the bus. They can get them sent to the resort though. But, I would just tag them and let them be handled as they normally would. Hope this helps a bit. Any other questions, feel free to ask. |
