yep, we had free dining too. I've seen some of the % off room discounts specifically state that suites aren't available for those.

Normally I wouldn't think so either, but I got the pin for free dining for this summer, the same dates that we are going next year, so I guess anything is possible. Time will tell - just kind of planning some things out for fun right now, just to get me through the rest of this cold dreary winter we can't snap out of!

Wow, this thread has gone a whole month with no posts???

Over the years I've seen people ask about moving the chair or ottoman from the living room into the bedroom. Some people claimed it couldn't be done. So here is proof that it can:




This is the ottoman sleeper. The door is on the opposite side of the room (to the right). Next to the ottoman I have the cushion from the top of it since DD is used to having a bedrail on her bed. On the other side of the cushion are windows. At the foot of the "cot" is a desk & chair (space to stand, not right up against it) and next to the desk is the tv stand/dresser.


Might as well throw a couple more pics in while I'm at it. This is at the smaller pool (forget the name of it)

Anyways, the suite was perfect for us. We ate breakfast in the room on the mornings we didn't have a character breakfast booked.

As for the food court - we found all the food really good EXCEPT the pizza. It was nasty, gross bad Pizza Hut pizza. Even DH wouldn't have a 2nd slice and he eats about anything. Burgers were really good, quesadillas were really good. Eggs & home fries & waffles were good. the only thing in our case is we were back at the hotel every night for supper since DD is young and is still a napper so with her not taking a nap while we were at the parks, she was really out of control overtired by 3-4:00ish every day so that's when we'd leave the parks and end up back at the hotel around 5 and have to think about supper. Since we didn't have a car, we had no choice but to eat at the hotel. Although the food was all pretty good, by day 3 I really had had enough of that food court and didn't want to see it again -- but we still had 5 more days of it to go! There's not a huge dinner selection. There are 3 different counter sections for lunch/dinner - the first was the Specialty area and had baked chicken, quesadillas, a couple different sandwiches, and salads. The second was the grill which had burgers, hot dogs, etc. The third was the pizza/pasta. And there was usually a "special" each day at each counter. I really only ate the burgers, quesadillas, and salad. So you can see how 8 nights of those 3 items could get tiring, lol. A couple nights I just didn't eat at all b/c I couldn't bring myself to eat any of those things again.

you know what, I never came out and asked him but I he never complained about it the entire 8 nts. we were there, so I assume it was fine. I slept on the sleeper chair the first night and it was perfectly fine (just small as I'm used to sleeping in a King)

Good to know! We're trying to figure out sleeping arrangements for our upcoming trip...me, my 2 girls, and my mom. Not sure how well Mom and I can share a queen-sized bed...could be weird or difficult (I toss and turn a lot; she snores). Maybe we'll pull the ottoman in the room, too

I am looking into staying in a family suite with my wife, 7, 5, 3, 1 yr old kids
vs
staying at the contemporary resort

my biggest concern is the buses and traveling with the small young children.
if anyone has "recent" opinions on which is better please share them.
The last thing i need is to be stuck standing around for a long time (like I have read about) to catch a bus with tired/hungry little ones or even much longer travel times in general.
This only seems to be a real issue with the value resorts because they share a bus often times. (and of course you can't walk to the MK so thats going to be a longer travel time)

so again any input/opinions are welcomed

I only know about ASMU and the longest we ever waited for a bus was about 20 minutes. I think they come every 20 minutes though, so can't imagine waiting any longer than that. I'm sure at different times they run differently (high crowds vs. low crowds, etc.)

can you tell me the time of yr you were there?
we will be at 4th of July which I know is busy but we had the same experience, 20 mins or so at the moderate resorts that time of yr

we were there end of Feb. (pretty busy) to beginning of March (not busy)

The bus situation is difficult to predict, really.....I've been the during spring break, and hardly waited much at all, then in August, some days were long waits, and other days no wait at all. I've also been in May and October when the waits weren't more than 20 minutes. On nights when you stay to closing..the lines will be long, but they do run more buses then.

We loved staying in the family suites..enjoy your trip.

Nope, they don't! But I bought a cheapo $10 one and brought it with us since the main purpose of the kitchen for us was breakfast and one of the main things we eat is toast and bagels! Then I just left it there.
