PRICES for Europe cruise.. ARE YOU KIDDING?

I think DCL higher ups have lost their minds. I can barely afford a Disney cruise as it is, especially in "high season" and we make a decent living. I looked at the estimated prices on ********** and in a cat. 11 inside cabin for all 6 of us (including my dad) would cost between $11,000 - $19,000 BEFORE air to Europe, hotel, tips and spending money. That could easily be a $25,000 vacation for a CAT 11.
ARE THEY NUTS or is it just ME ???
I could stay on the ship for a month from the homeland for that kind of $$$.

By the way... if the execs are reading this.... there are lots of other ships in Europe over the summer with "normal" pricing.
Is anybody else mad ??

I think the prices are a little pathetic also. There was another thead posted where you can go on a "high class" cruiseliner for several thousand dollars less then Disney is offering. I checked one of the sites it was a big difference. One of them offered 2 for 1 sale....the owners suite ( the best suite on the ship! ) for 5800.00!!! and that included everything....tax..tips...ect.. also you got free air with that!! I think Disney messed this one up a little.

I just checked RCCL. The Voyager will be there, as well as the NCL Jewel, MUCH CHEAPER.

We are sailing the Med on the NCL Jewel in May. I will let you now how it was when we get back.

In 2007 Carnival will have 2 ships sailing the Med- the Liberty and the new Freedom.

I TIA with all of you. I can barely afford the 7-day Western but the Med prices are way, way out of line. We'll see how many CAN afford those prices and for how long. I really had no interest in being on a ship that long anyway, and the prices just convinced me to stay in the good USA! I won't be seeing the Med anytime soon, unless I hit the lottery or something.

I'm pretty frustrated and disappointed with DCL. Just like the repo cruises to the Pacific ocean, the ship will be close to full going to Europe. DCL has dashed the hope of those who wanted to sail the Magic to the MEd.. They've also broken the hearts of those who's cruise got canceled for the 2nd time by DCL (DCL canceled our second cruise) . It's all about the green and you know I'm not talking shamrocks or this cool thumbs up guy . Too bad I can't flip him upside down right now. Any way, I have had thoughts of sabitoging our upcoming cruise by getting pregnant. But who knows when we'll EVER be able to sail DCL again.

Sorry to ramble, I am with you all, but I don't think Disney will ever get it.There are too many other people who are willing to fork out more green w/o blinking.

I thought getting into the parks was rough, getting to cruise DCL is tougher! There's a lot of green to climb to see the Mouse!

I agree - the DCL Med prices are ridiculous. We've been on 3 European cruises and not paid anywhere near what DCL is asking. Altho we love Disney, we'll be looking to a different cruise line for our summer 2007 European cruise.

way out of line!

I completely agree with you all. We are huge disney fans, but the prices for the med. cruise are totally out of line. This fall will probably be our first and last Disney cruise - there are just too many other good options at much better prices.

My disney cruises have been great vacations, but COME ON.... I can cruise the QE2 for those prices. It really makes me MAD. I've spent countless thousands of dollars with Disney but the Mouse is getting greedy. My November cruise will probably be my last for a l-o-n-g time. It's time to give NCL or Princess a shot.

Have to agree with you all! I was sooooo looking forward to booking this med cruise but I can't afford to spend close to $18,000 on one vacation. I'm really disappointed that I won't be on this one. We were on the panana repo and we snagged a category 9 for $5,400. I knew it would be more but I didn't realize how much more.

In 2007 we'll be cruising Alaska instead.

Unless you cruise in heart of hurricane season, you're out of luck anymore. I live part time in Florida and the Florida resident rates aren't even a good deal anymore.
I'M FRUSTRATED because we love Disney. It's pretty sad when we make a great income, probably more than the average, and we are now priced out of the market. Not many can afford $20,000 for a vacation. If you can, God Bless you. But that's not me.

Someone said Carnival will have 2 ships in the med in 2007. Did anyone price them yet? But isn't the Freedom a RC ship--will that ship be in Europe then?

Freedom of the Seas is the RCCL ship. The Carnival Liberty will be returning to Europe in 2007 and its sister the new Carnival Freedom will be joining it. I read about it on Cruise Critic. I believe one will be doing the Western Med and the other the Eastern Med 11 or 12 day cruises if I recall correctly.

The new NCL Jewel which is doing mostly 7 day Med cruises this summer will be sailing 12 night Med cruises in 2007. Their 2006 repos have some pretty nice ports as well as a few of the basic Med ports. Also the Jewel has some awesome Suites with excellent perks including Butler and concierge service.

As I stated in my thread earlier, we will also be leaving DCL for our next cruise. I am a huge Disney fan as most of us here are. I live in Kansas and have annual passes to both WDW and DL. We are DVC owners and I have spent more than I care to know on Disney collectibles over the last 30 years. It is just my DH and I and we both are paid well in our respective careers. We own a small home and spend our extra money on travel and much of it revolves around Disney trips. We took the repo through the Panama Canal and I loved everything about it. I even thought the price was reasonable. I loved the Mystery at Sea and eagerly anticipated each new clue. I purchased two books on Mediterranean cruises and never even considered we wouldn't be on one of those trips next summer. There were 6 of us going and all of us anticipated spending more on the Med cruises than we did on the Panama Canal voyage. I was at work Tuesday and left a meeting to check on the updates and there they were, prices and all. It took me all of 5" to determine we would not be going to the Med on Disney after all. I have heard great things about Celebrity for years and it is always rated higher than Disney for everything except children's activities in all cruise books and in the yearly Conde Nast survey. So now we are planning our Celebrity cruise. Am I going to miss DCL? You bet! I also hope to one day take another DCL cruise. But there are now 8 of us that are going to spend our money with Celebrity and I am really looking forward to that trip. I do hope the DCL execs pay attention. But then again these cruises may just sell out like last summers special cruises. Either way Celebrity is a better choice for us in this case. Lets hope we all enjoy our journeys!
I posted the above on another thread and I also sent a slightly different version to DCL. I'm sure I won't get a reply but it made me feel better.
