what are the odds of getting a cabin for the 10 day meditteranean cruise is you arent on dcl wait list, based on past history with the west coast repostionning. Any thoughts from those who watched this unfold before.

Your odds are very good. There is always initial excitment, but not everyone who is excited is going to actually go on any of these cruises.

I just got off the phone with DCL. They told me that there is no waitlist and nothing can be booked until April 4.

I think it will be very easy to get a room. From the initial posts it seems a lot of people are not going because of the price. Yes, I can do Costa or Princess for less, but for me we like the idea of no casino on the ship and we know what to expect with Disney.
We like the family atmosphere and will pay more for it.

I agree.
I think by releasing the prices/itineraries ahead of time AND by requiring a larger deposit amount (which I understand will be non-refundable period on cats. 1-3) there won't be as much holding of ressies like last time. I think a big part of the problem before was people who had more than one ressie in their name. That made the pricing tiers jump - then when people ended up cancelling their multiple ressies the pricing stayed high. There actually ended up being quite a bit of availability on the West Coast cruises - it was just that it was at a much higher price point than for the folks who booked early.

Well, I don't think that's entirely true. There is no wait list that you can get on right now, but there WAS one. It has been closed for awhile now - but folks that were on it will be contacted and offered cabins prior to the April 4 booking date. I have no idea how many people are on the list or how many of them will actually follow through and come up with the deposit money to book. But lets just say I for one would be pretty surprised if you were able to call and snag oh, say a secret porthole room on 4/4. I bet enough folks on the list will book that those will be gone. Of course I've been wrong before (maybe once) I'll be watching the boards on 4/4 though.
