Parking at Resort Hotels

My Brother and SIL are meeting me at WDW in Jan. I'll be staying at ASMu but they are staying off site. I've only stayed at ASMu once before and took Disney transportation the whole time so I don't know anything about parking or getting in/out of the resort hotels by car.

So my question is, can they come to my hotel and pick me up or will they get charged for parking? I can't remember if there is a booth or not.

Thank you

They can just state why they're there, and be allowed in for no charge.

Pick you up to go to a park? Or are you asking if the resort will charge them to get into the hotel's parking lot?

If you are going to a park and using their car, you can not enter for free. They need a parking pass, you get that when you check in. For the resort, there is never a charge to park at the hotels unless you do valet but ASMu doesn't offer that.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I mean if they pick me up to go somewhere outside the Disney Resort. Like we're going to Discovery Cove one day or if we go out to eat off property.

Well if you don't have a car, get the parking pass when you check in. Then you can park for free at the theme parks. I'm not sure if they check for key cards but as long as you're in the car, you're all set.

As was stated earlier, just tell the guard they are picking up a guest and they should let them through.

Thank you for your help! If I get the pass when I check in, do I need any info like their license plate number?

Send a message via ICQ to webray
Our children have visited us at many disney resorts...just give them your room number and tell them to let the gate guard know they are picking you up from whatever room. It will not be a problem.

No. The pass will be already coded with your resort information on it, including your checkout date. So whatever car you use if for will be linked to you so be aware of that.

One thing that I hate about the parking pass is that it states the name of the person that reserved the room. I don't know about anyone else but I have written disney about this and I sharpie over my name. Just think my car is parked in Pop's parking lot, in my head this is what could happen, its middle of the night and a person calls Pop and says may I have DisneyWisher's room, I answer and they say Hi this is Disney security and it appears that someone has broken into your car can you meet us at your car? I do it because I just got woken up thinking someone broke into my car. I just think its wrong for our name to be on this parking pass.

No one has ever commented about my blacked out name when going back to my resort or entering the parks' parking lot.

Well whenever one of us would call someone from our family while they were in our room, the Cast Member would always ask for our room number after saying our name. So because the parking passes don't list which specific room your staying in if a guest does not know it would they still be connected?

Sorry for hijacking the thread but I couldn't add a new thread for some reason. Here's my question.

We will be staying at Old Key West the week after next, will our OKW parking pass allow us access to the other resorts parking lots?

We are thinking of visiting a couple of the resorts to check them out for our next trip

thanks

You can go and visit other resorts, security may stop you at the gate and ask the reason for your visit, and at the deluxes you may be given a limited time parking pass. This is to dissuade people from parking at a resort and entering a park that way.

Well I met one woman at POFQ that was outraged security did not allow her friend to drive to the resort even to pick her up. This woman was so hot she said she would never stay at Disney again. If she was not ranting and raving so I would have told her to go to the Check in desk to get a parking pass and put it on her friends care. Steered clear of the situation.

There had to be more to that situation than the woman's friend simply not being allowed on the grounds. The only resorts that have any problem at all with letting people park or visit are the monorail ones and the Epcot ones. And then you are usually allowed in with a three hour pass. Only during the really crowded holiday seasons are people ever completely turned away. French Quarter really has no reason for not allowing someone to come and pick someone else up. There had to be a reason other than the guard just said "no". The guards very rarely say "no".

DSIL & DBIL live in FL and come visit us at WDW all the time when we are there. We let the front gate know they are coming, there's no problem.

A couple of times when I forgot to let the front gate know, they just told Security that they were coming to visit us and they let them in.
