LOVED it!
I went on Christmas Eve this past year and it was AH-MAY-ZING! Yes, it was expensive. But it was SO worth it! I love animals and I love taking pictures. The truck pulls over and stops so you can get up and take pictures. It's very hard to get good pics in the super-bouncy trucks, so stopping makes all the difference. Also, the guides are very knowledgable and you can ask a million questions, so you learn a LOT about the animals. As an added bonus, one guide leads, the other mainly takes pictures. You get a CD mailed to you about a week after you return with all the pics they took. Plus there are 50 stock photos of the best pictures they've taken. It is a very memorable experience and you have a great souvenir to remember every minute of it. There are some really cool moments too, like walking over two bridges that span over hippos and crocs. I highly recommend it and will probably do it again some day!
GO!!!!

I've done it once with my family. It was one of the few things that unanimously everybody in the family would like to do again. Haven't yet, because, as another poster pointed out, it is expensive, but, to our mind, well worth the cost. The only downside to the experience, which Disney has absolutely no control over, is that we had a downpour on our trek, which I think cut things short, a little. The lions were out when we had our snack break, but, then it started to rain, and they were gone when we went around to that side. Everybody gets a chance to take pictures, unlike on the Safari, if you happen to be on one side or the other, you can't always get a good picture without somebody else's backside/hair/hat/child in the view. And then there are the grumpy fellow travelers who take exception to sharing the row with other guests. (I was on the Safari by myself, and there really was somebody who took exception to the fact that I was in the row with their family; well, they surely aren't going to put me in a row by myself, alone, so, you better get used to it).

My dh and I did this last year we loooved it! I have done many Disney tour and this was the best. the animal viewing is so much more in depth then the ride, the bridges are so much fun and it is a very unique experience.Must do if you have the $.
I recommend and early or late afternoon tour. That way you avoid the heat. We did the 8am one June and we were sweating like crazy! |
