I'm wondering the same thing. I plan to use weather.com to track weather patterns. Does anyone know if we can rely on their predictions?

We go just about every Dec. and the weather has been all over the place. It's usually cool in the mornings and evenings and warms up enough for just a t-shirt during the day.
We went the first weekend of Dec. 2010 and it hit 90 one of our days. I purposely avoid the summer because I don't like it when it's that hot. Who would've thought! LOL! |

It is typically high 60's during the day and chilly at night. But there are times when it hits 90 and other times when it goes down to 40. I just keep watching the weather forecast as it gets closer to my trip. As it can vary greatly from one week to the next.

If anyone is going on the 8th and 9th I can pretty much guarantee that it'll be in the 90's. How do I know? Because I'LL be there then. LOL I was there in September when it was 108 degrees, and I really want to have a different experience in "cold" weather, but I have the worst luck ever so I'm sure it'll be warm.

The weather literally depends on the direction of the prevailing winds on that particular day. If the winds are blowing onshore from the West then expect cool, sometimes wet, conditions. If they are blowing offshore from the East then expect warm, dry conditions. This is why the weather can change very quickly if there is a sudden change in the wind direction.

Take layers so you are prepared for anything. Last year it was beautiful in december. I actually got sunburned walking around in the sun all day. Chilly at night though, but not what I would call cold.

I'd say "cool". Probably jeans/t-shirt weather during the day and jeans/jacket weather at night.

December weather is unpredictable. It's not unusual to have a few days of rain, but it's also completely possible to have a week of 80 degrees and sunny skies. Mornings and evenings are also likely to be cool, regardless of the forecast, so pack layers.

I can tell you no matter what the temp is during the day, the morning and evenings will be cool. Yes, we've had our 90 degree days in December, but fortunately, it's not the norm. Having days in the 80's is more normal than the 90's. Sorry, but I mayself am hoping for a wet cold December. We need the rain.

I live here and cannot tell you what the weather will be like.
2 weeks ago, it was freezing (ok, probably California freezing, but still). This past Saturday, I was there and my beanie, scarf, and pea coat was too much until the wind picked up (this was all at night). And yes, earlier in the week it was 90 degrees during the day...DISCLAIMER: I'm a southern California girl and I'm cold in the low 60s....

As others have said, it's unpredictable - take layers and be prepared for anything. The only thing slightly predictable is that early mornings and nights will be cool. We went for 4 days (3 in parks) the first week of December last year. We had three days that were unbelievably perfect daytime weather -- jeans and t-shirts. Mornings and nights we had jackets. One day it rained. All day. It was a cold, drenching rain. But, by nighttime, it had stopped and everything was clean and beautiful and crowds were still super low.
