S/O Kids Meal Toys

What have your favorite kids meal toys been (either that you have enjoyed, or your kids..either one). Kids meal toys generally drive me nutty, but my favorites recently were the Halloween Books on CD from Wendy's back in October, Mad Libs (for loooong car rides to WDW!!) from Wendy's, and the princess crown from McDonald's recently.

I can't stand the noisy Shrek toys.

McDonald's toys were great when I was a kid. I remember Garfield, Fraggle Rock, and Muppet Babies sets. They were good quality (plastic, but more of a rubbery kind of plastic). The toys now, like the Shrek ones, just seem so flimsy and cheap. DD looooves her Shrek watch though, and that noisy Puss In Boots.

Pizza Hut

I dont know if I'm the only one who thinks this or not, but the toys were so much better when I was a kid...
A few of my favs:
The land before time plastic hand puppets from Pizza hut
The buckets they used to put Happy Meals in around Halloween
Also at McDs when they had Disney toys that came in what looked like mini VHS cases.
Thats all I can think of right now!

My favorites were the Halloween pails and when they used to have little Lego sets. My mom likes the little Madame Alexander dolls.

Ooh, I loved the Halloween pails! I also remember Garfield glasses. I think we had to buy those though.

Lately, there haven't been any that I'm thrilled about. I actually think the "under 3" toys are better. There's one where it's a cylinder with 3 revolving parts, and you match up the people/outfits. On the top of it, there are numbers that show through a peep hole. My 3 year old still plays with it. She sips from it and calls it coffee.

We just got 2 car karaoke CDs from Wendy's the other day. Looking forward to trying them out this weekend when we drive to my in-laws! My daughter loved the American Girl activity books McD's had a year or two ago and the little Barbies, Madame Alexander, and Wizard of Oz dolls. I, on the other hand, just slipped several of those same dolls into the trash bc I can't STAND plastic junk all over our house!

The only happy meal toys that have survived toy purging are the cars from mcdonalds a while back. Most of its pretty pointless and I agree - I think the toys were much better when I was younger!

My kids loved the Wordgirl toys/CDs from Wendy's a couple years ago. Still listen to the stories on CD in the car. Remember when we were kids and at McDonalds they had the chicken nugget figures in the different Halloween costumes? Those were my faves. I saved some that I still put up around the house at Halloween.

If my kids get a happy meal and don't even open the toy, we have a box we save them in and donate them to our school's Fun Frolic to give away as prizes.

I am going wayyyyy back here...I have a plastic "lunch box" that looks like a McDonald's that the happy meal came in. I don't think I ever used it as an actual lunch box though. Kept toys and trinkets in it !! It has survived pretty well, except the latch that closed it broke off. I had McDonald dishes that I ate on and glasses too, but I think you had to purchase or get with a more adult type purchase.
When DS was small we got several cute FP Little People toys, he loved. Now, most things get played with for a few days and then end up in the trash or garage sale for a dime/nickel !!

For the longest time my dd didn't know that Happy Meals came with toys. I'd stash them away. Then when she deserved a treat (earned them through a rewards box we had, went to the doctor and got shots, etc), she got a "new" toy, which was a hidden Happy Meal toy.

She also didn't know what came in Happy Meals. So instead of dealing with the tantrum in the car every time we passed McDonald's, I'd tell her we'd have a Happy Meal at home. I had carefully folded up a Happy Meal box and kept it. I'd go home, make lunch, and serve it in the box. Who knew Happy Meals have scrambled eggs or PB&J?
