'Ohana and gluten (wheat) free

We don't eat wheat or any grains really. We don't do the "gluten free" stuff (all super mega high carb corn and rice starch - terrible stuff), so my question is, if we don't want to eat the (SUPER YUMMY) bread pudding, does anyone know what we will get for dessert instead? We are going regardless, but I was just curious. No pot stickers or noodles either. But those made me belch like crazy last time anyway so I have no desire to repeat that even if we did eat wheat. We'll be very happy with salad and meat and shrimp and veggies (and hopefully some kind of yummy dessert). TIA.

Fruit or ice cream would be your options or maybe a dessert from Kona. Ask your server

I ate gluten free and had a most delicious ice cream sundae made with gluten free chocolate cookies. It was very good. They also bring rice and gluten free veggies. They make a special serving of gluten free chicken wings as an appetizer and pork for dinner. You can eat the salad, steak, chicken and shrimp. They also bring a gluten free roll. It was all very good. The chicken wings and ice cream sundae were my favorites.

Thanks for the responses. As I mentioned in my post above, we don't eat the "gluten free" junk as it is worse for you than sugar. Highly refined starches are terrible for your blood sugar, LDL and triglycerides.

So the rolls and cookies and so forth are out.

But the ice cream and/or fruit sounds great! We avoid sugar at home as well, but on vacation, we will splurge plenty on that. Sure wish they still had the pineapple and caramel dip..... sigh.

Would they happen to have an "ice cream" substitute like sherbert?

I would suggest noting on your reservation that you need a grain free meal--gluten free has become synonymous with those fakey food substitutes.

If they can do an ice cream sundae, you might be able to ask for fruit and chocolate sauce or a sundae sans cookies.

They don't have a sherbet or sorbet. For those of us who can't have diary they have Tofutti ice cream instead of regular ice cream. The only other gluten free dessert we've seen there beside ice cream and fruit is gluten free brownies and cookies. I've read of others who have gotten a flourless chocolate cake but it's not something we can eat due to other allergies so I've never asked.

They'll also prepare gluten free wings for you in addition to the salad, meats, shrimp & veggies. Unless you specifically say you don't want it, the meats and shrimp will likely be served over a big mount of white rice. At least that's how ours has always been served.
