We stay in a family room at the Hilton using Clubcard points. Last time I did ask to be moved as they gave us a room on the 2nd floor that overlooked the lobby. Nothing wrong with the room but I thought it would be noisy and I like a view

I think the new wing tends to be mostly deluxe and executive rooms.

You know what it's funny as I was at the hair dresser today and she asked where I was staying the night before, I told her and she said that she stayed at the Hilton last yr and that she had an amazing room! THEN her Flight was cancelled so they needed another room and was put in the older room!! She said that it was horrid and yet it was just down the corridor from the other room.

There is a new Premier inn directly behind the Sofitel which opens in November.

Long time lurker and occasional poster here!
Another vote for the Courtyard by Marriott. We've stayed there twice - most recently last month - and it is fine. We paid about £140 for the night and 2 weeks parking, which was far less than the Hilton - and the room was a bit nicer than the last one we had at the Hilton 6 or 7 years ago. The walk is a little bit further, takes us about 10 mins without the cases and a couple more with them. Trolleys are available there. There's always the shuttle if it's raining. We like being on site and not having to use other transport to get to the terminal.
