Confused about my stateroom category.

Room assignment online says 5540 is a cat 6a. After checking deck plan it says cat 4. and stateroom reports, one says 5 and one says 4e. So does anyone know the actual category? Thanks!

Sounds like you booked a cat. 6A and received an upgrade. DCL won't change the category listed when they give you an upgrade.

As for the different categories listed in the stateroom reports, this is one of the cabins that was reclassified after the original deck plans were released. Cat. 4E is now the correct category.

Did you book a GTY? Your reservation will always show what category GTY you booked, but the actual room will either be that or higher. Is this on the Dream or Fantasy? 5540 is a 4E. On deck 5.

I'm looking at my 2012 DCL book with the deck plans and layouts...
according to this book, there is no such thing as a 4E. There is 5A thru 5E and there are 4A thru 4D. And according to the color coding in this book, it looks very much like the OP has received the upgrade of a 5E....not a 4E.
I cannot find a 4E anywhere in this book...category 4s don't even start until deck 6 and those are 4D's, with 4C's on deck 7, 4B's on deck 8 and 4A's on decks 9 & 10.

Oops.... I went on DCL's site and see that there is a 4E but the big difference is that the 4E's are clearly marked that they will only sleep 3 or 4 where the other cat 4's sleep 5. That must be the difference. Seems like they should do a better job of updating their literature! SMH!

Effective October 18, 2011, Disney Cruise Line will be re-categorizing 120 staterooms due to the unique features of each stateroom. Reservations booked prior to October 20 will be price protected if the resulting change is a higher category, but will receive a rate adjustment if the resulting change is for a lower category. The five new categories are:

4E – Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah – Oversized Verandah
5E – Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah – Oversized Verandah, some with solid white wall
7A – Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Navigator Verandah, Undersized or Obstructed Verandah
9C – Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom, One Porthole, Obstructed View
9D – Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom, One Porthole, Obstructed View – limited view of ocean

Here is a list of the staterooms affected by the change:

Now Category 9C: 7000 – 7004, 7500 – 7502, 8000 – 8004, 8500 – 8502

It's a 4 E extended veranda. DCL recategorized some rooms. This is one of them. It's the same sqft inside, but the balcony is huge. Folks above can look down on most of it. Most folks love them. They cost more now than they did prior to recategorization.

Awesome. Now does anybody know this one... If I try to upgrade to a a cat V will they go from the old category or the 4E?

The upgrade cost is based on your booked/original category.
