Shades of Green transportation

I'm sure there's a thread here already, but I can't seem to be able to find it.

Can someone please explain the transportation at Shades of Green? We're going at the beginning of August and are a little hesitant on how well their transportation is and are thinking of changing resorts because of it. We've stayed in the Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge before and are used to how easy it is to navigate from them.

Thanks so much for the help!

Info is on their web site.

Transportation at SoG is "scheduled". Usually top and bottom of the hour. I no longer stay there (despite being eligible) mainly because of the transportation. Last time I was there I either drove to the theme parks ( have an AP) or walked to the Polynesian. It wasn't 97 degrees though.

Nice place, but not much Disney. We don't stay there because I can be at a Disney Value for less, and a mod with a discount. Personally I prefer the amenities of a Disney resort to SoG, however I still purchase all of my tickets at SoG.

Good luck!

There are two buses from SoG. One goes to the TTC where you can catch additional transportation to MK, Epcot, or DTD.
The other stops at DHS and AK.

If I was going to stay at SoG, which will probably happen in the future, I would likely bring a car, and drive to all the parks except MK. I would get to the MK by walking across the street to the Poly or TTC and using the monorail or ferry.

I know some people who absolutely love SoG, but I can't see the appeal other than the large rooms for a fraction of the cost of staying in a similar size room at a Disney resort. For this reason, I'll likely only stay there on a split stay with a Deluxe to offset the cost if my family ever outgrows a room at a Value, Mod, or less expensive Deluxe, or if we're driving down anyways.

4 stays at SOG...never had any trouble getting around using their transportation. Used a combo of SOG buses and walks to the Poly..no big deal. It is not perfect but neither is Disney transportation. SOG buses have worked for us. You will get many differing opinions on this.

There are plusses and minuses. One nice thing about the SOG transportation is that it is scheduled (unlike the Disney busses), so you know when to be at the stop.

This is correct. We drove, but we only drove our van to DTD once during our entire stay. The rest of the time, we used the buses or rode the shady shuttle to the end of the room to catch the monorail. No problems or complains from anyone in my party . In fact, we were glad to always know when the bus was running.
