I think this is a really nice option. I know that I just recently became a D23 member, and only because I was interested in doing the Epcot 30th lectures. If I still lived locally, I likely would have become a member earlier to take advantage of the events and such, but from now on if there is an event that coincides with my trip, I'll already be a member and will be able to attend.

Smart idea. I would have never considered paying to join but free gets you in and then you get hooked. I'm in lets see if the benefits defend the cost of the upper memberships. Thank you for posting.
