Funny how a lot of DFTW/Disney wedding naysayers claim that our weddings are a "scam" when what they mean is "not cheap"... I would rather pay $1000 for a diamond bracelet than $100 for a CZ one. Being cheaper doesn't always make something better. I don't think it's possible to look at the pictures of our brides' lovely outdoor ceremonies and genuinely believe they were scammed.

Here here!!!!
You can never be scammed if you are happy with what you got. If you are delighted with your purchase, whether it be a wedding or a cup of coffee, you have not been scammed!!

The way I see it is that you may very well be able to get away with a non-sanctioned wedding. You may not be noticed, the CM's you encounter may not be well versed in the rules... But, really, why would you want to?
I would hate to be sneaking around on my wedding day, worried that someone might catch me. I would hate to start my marriage in a deceitful way. I would hate to have to do things in a way that meant I couldn't celebrate openly. Particularly when there are so many other great options available. I remember the monorail woman... Not to be insensitive, but I would have hated that as my wedding. To each their own, but that was not my idea of a wedding day. If I recall correctly, she claimed she had confirmed with someone that it wasn't against Disney rules, but I think she was misinformed or didn't really speak to anyone... (Now, the one that burns my buttons is the brides who seem to get into Magic Kingdom in their dresses... I know not everyone would want to, but I think walking through MK in your dress would be great! Not to mention a great way to get photos! I'll own up to some jealousy there...) |

Trolllolololol.
OP- you have your answer. Either go through DFTW or the Swan OR take your wedding elsewhere. That's all there is to it.

I have dreamed for years of a DFT vow renewal that just never seems to come together for one reason or another but more often than not it is the cost of the event that prevents me from doing it. I know there are many other brides out there like me that cant afford to have their weddings/vow renewals at disney as well as many brides that have saved for years in order to have their special day.
This is very rude and insulting to the intelligence of all people who frequent this board. It is completely absurd that someone would even take the time to post a question that they have already asked and gotten the answer to, and caused uproar the first time. To top this off in no way do I, or anyone else for that matter, believe that the OP spoke to someone at the Poly who said "No problem, please let us know if we can help". I call BS on this. OP, if you had in fact called the Poly and spoke to anyone concerning a wedding, they would have instructed you to call the Disney Fairy Tale Wedding Team. Good luck with your planning, Im sure those that were scammed into their weddings are dying to help you plan yours.

I really hope you get your Disney vow renewal one day!!!! Have you investigated having your VR at the Swan and Dolphin? Still right there in WDW, but up to half the price of a similar event arranged through DFTW. Good luck and I hope you realise your dream soon!!!

Awe thank you so much sweetie!!!! It truly was a day we will keep in our hearts forever.
I know what you mean about distance involved in getting to WDW. We live in England, and the airfares are just getting so ridiculous now. I really hope you can work something out!!! Much love, sweetie xx
