Raglan Road or House of Blues??
I have an ADR at Raglan Road BUT I keep looking at the menu and am having second thoughts....I think that House of Blues has more of a variety.
My husband enjoys Irish food, my sons (11 & 7) and I would settle on a burger or something....but that doesn't sound like a good deal since we're on the dining plan. (This is a downfall with the plan) - I feel like I have to get my money's worth and a burger won't cut it! LOL Anyway....I guess I just need a little push - to keep the Raglan Rd ADR or make one at House of Blues! ![]() What were your experiences at either of these restaurants?? TIA!! |

I haven't heard good things from House of Blues. I definitely vote Raglan Road. We tried it for the first time last year as our first meal of the trip and compared our other meals to that one. We have it scheduled again for our trip in december. I settled on the serious steak with whiskey marmalade, basil oil and crispy onion strings. It was fantastic! Along with the mashed potatoes. And my fiance and mom ordered the Lambo and loved it! The desserts including the Bread and Butter Pudding and the chocolate dome are also incredibly delicious!
My vote would be for Raglan!

We did both. Food was good at both. But, I preferred House Of Blues. At Raglan Road, we were seated where we could not see any part of the "show". I had made our reservation exactly 180 days out, and I had stopped in early to make sure we could see the show. Said we would wait, etc. They refused to sit us where we could see the show, and said they would give away our reservation if we didn't take what they wanted us to. It made for a very disappointing meal. Turned me off to Raglan Road. i would never go back. (And yes---I know not everyone can sit to see the show, but we made all efforts to up our chances, and they would not work with us)

Well, we enjoy both!
We ate at House of Blues this past Aug, 5 of us. The menu has been re-inspired by Chef Aaron Sanchez and the food was very good! 3 of us had the short ribs, tender with just a hint of a spicy finish. Another had the Lobter Mac/Cheese, as recommended by our server, she said it was the best she'd had. And the last ordered the fried chicken with I think loaded mashed potatoes. This chicken was a thing of beauty and could have fed 3 people! There's a live band there on Thu/Fri or Fri/Sat (can't remember) We ate at Raglans in June, and also have reservations for Nov 20. We always start with the appetizer platter, it has lolipop scallops, sausages in pastry etc. we love it. My son's favorite is the braised beef, I love the bangers and Booz. The Sheperd's pie is really good too, as is the chicken and mushroom pie. My vegan friends from England usually the salmon or the fish and chips but as far as fish goes, I happen to prefer the cod (it come with a wine sauce) and then there's the show and the bread pudding! Though not someone who usually gets dessert, that bread pudding is fantastic! Can't go wrong with either restaurant!

Both are excellent choices.
Don't settle for a burger ( maybe the kids) Get something you's never have otherwise- that is the PLUS of the Dining Plan.

We have been to both, enjoyed both very much, and think the food quality is also good at both. For some reason we seem to go to Raglan Road more, but that's probably because they have other House of Blues locations, like Las Vegas, that we got to occasionally.
I suggest you go for the menu that best fits your tastes. Whatever you decide, I hope you have a great meal and fun , fun time!

I absolutely loved Raglan Rd. on my last visit to Disney; it was the favorite of our trip. Food was wonderful and the experience was great! Make sure you can view the stage because they have some talented Irish dancers. There's also some musicians that were very good. The atmosphere is fun but not rowdy; it was lively but also relaxing.

We haven't tried House of Blues, but we have gone to Raglan Road. We loved it so much that we're going back on our next trip. Everything is great -- the atmosphere, entertainment, food. We love everything about it!

Both are good but I like RR much better. Never seen the show though, we were behind a divider.

Out of the the two restaurants, I would choose Raglan Road. The food and atmosphere is far nicer and several times we have went to House Of Blues we complained about the slow service and food being stoney cold.

Our Ratings of Raglan Road: (7/7/2012)
. . . food price value: C . . . food quality: C . . . food quantity per serving: C . . . food prep speed: C . . . food selection: C . . . seating quantity: B . . . seating comfort: C . . . eatery atmosphere: C . . . eatery convenience: C . . . staff friendliness: A . . . staff attentiveness: B . . . character interaction: n/a NOTE: Danielle Fitzpatrick dancing and the Tuskar Rock band playing are authentic Irish. However, the food is not. The food is unfortunately altered versions of Irish cuisine; some any true Pub would not offer. Bread Pudding was very tasty. The Shepard's Pie was not close to what one might expect; the remainder of the food was tasty, but average. As a surprise, the fish-and-chips were quite tasty and reasonably priced. Also noted is that the room noise is too high for dining. We found the food can be significantly improved if you do several of the whisky flights. ************************************************** ***** Our Ratings of House of Blues: (Rev 7/15/12) . . . food price value: D . . . food quality: C . . . food quantity per serving: C . . . food prep speed: B . . . food selection: C . . . seating quantity: C . . . seating comfort: D . . . eatery atmosphere: C . . . eatery convenience: C . . . staff friendliness: B . . . staff attentiveness: B . . . character interaction: n/a NOTE1: The new menu is seriously disappointing. All HOB websites claim new menus by Aaron Sanchez. Not sure if this is bragging or an apology. It is supposed to be more "Southwestern USA" and items are said to be bold-sassy-contemporary. They sadly miss. Additionally, HOB at Disney used to be very reasonable pricing is now overpriced for what is on the plate. It is still loud inside, as no acoustical aids. On the good side, the Sunday Gospel Lunch is great for both music and food (make ressies!) NOTE2: I enjoy reviewing and rating eateries. I try to simply give our opinions and let the reader decide whether to venture forth. In this case, I would recommend NOT going to the eatery, except for the Gospel Lunch. |
