Go for Christmas week. We visited WDW this past Christmas and had a wonderful vacation. We didn't do rope drop. We did the parks night owl style....went in midafternoon and stayed until close, usually ending at a park with night EMH. I surprised my family with a Wishes dessert party on Christmas Eve. It was definitely worth it and made the night extra special in addition to keeping us away from the crowds. When it was over, they opened a back way that emptied out near Tony's Restaurant, saving us the hassle of navigating down a crowded Main Street.

If we weren't headed to WDW this summer, we would definitely plan to do Christmas there again.

We are going 12/22-12/28 with free dining pin and it is the only time my hubby could get off work too!

We went the week before Christmas in 2010 and it was crowded and record low temps then but I was in Disney so I was happy just to be there!

I know that it is going to be super busy but we plan on doing rope drops and park hopping...

We go to Disney a lot, but when we planned to spend last Christmas there, I honestly figured that would be a once in a lifetime trip due to the cost, crowds etc. Well, it was truly magical and the crowds didn't bother us like I figured. About a month ago, my husband started talking about how he wants us to spend Christmas at Disney again this year, no question about it. It is just breathtakingly beautiful at Christmas!!!

As a PP said, be there for rope drop. This will probably be a slower paced trip than you're used to - just accept it. If you play your fastpasses right, you won't wait in any crazy lines. Just relax and have fun! You're at Disney!
YES, YES, and YES! You're not crazy at all. We went last year, 15-22 - granted not exactly the Christmas days, left 2 days before. It, oddly, wasn't a seriously crazy as I thought. I know that 12/24 and following were likely more crazy, but if you plan well, you can do it easily. I just mentally prepared myself for crazy crowds. The only time we felt it was nuts was one evening at MK. We even went to MVMCP. Osborne Lights is killer!

I have never done Christmas Day but I've done 12/17-22 before and we had a great time. The one piece of advice I would offer is we stayed at AKL for that trip and while it was breathtaking and beautiful if I had it to do over I would have spent the money to stay a little closer in with an easier commute for rope drop. It was a bit remote for a fast trip with large crowds.
