Are disers not concerned about the possibility that their currently booked stateroom may all of a sudden become a connecting room after drydock

While I'm not currently booked on the Magic, I wouldn't be worried about it.

I have never looked at having a cabin that connects to another as being a problem. Luck of the draw if you get a noisey neighbor or not....same with a cabin that does not have a connecting door. Not that much difference in noise levels.

I personally look for the connecting cabins on the deckplans because we are a family of five. We always book connecting cabins but I also know that some cruisers were not excited when the Dream and the Fantasy had a large number of connecting cabins as opposed to the classic ships.

My original post was to see if DCL has released info regarding these new connecting cabins in order to help people make an intelligent choice of staterooms

It doesn't really matter to me because the cabin I usually sail in on the Magic has always been a connecting cabin and I'm sure it's not going to change.

Are they adding rooms because the ship will be a little longer, or are they making the rooms narrower - like on the Dream/Fantasy??? so they can cram more bodies onboard?

They are lengthening the ship in the engine room area, not the stateroom areas. For the most part the rooms are going to remain the same size, but have changes - new beds, maybe fridges instead of the cooling boxes, updating the bathrooms.

To make the rooms smaller (in order to add more rooms) they would have to basically gut the stateroom decks and reconfigure the walls and all. That would take a lot of time.

No, we have heard more noise from a non-connecting room than the connecting ones we have had on the classics.

No, they are simply making more rooms connecting due to feedback from guests. Families with more than 2 kids book two rooms and having the door connecting them simply makes life easier.

This is good news for us as we are a family of 5. We are booked on the July 14 med and I'd like a better cabin but there aren't any that are connecting...any idea when the cabin numbers might be released for this? I'm assuming that if you are already connecting they won't change that!

We will probably hear about it from DISers after the dry dock.

OK that makes sense - changing out some walls for some doors between cabins. Hopefully they don't loose to much storage space. It's amazing to me "how much" room my wife and I have when its just the 2 of us, and how "little" room there is when there are 3 of us in one room :

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need.

I have been anxiously awaiting new deck plans since they announced that they were adding more connectors. We generally do two connecting cabins and I'm thrilled about having more of them. We have two future cruises booked on the Magic and were able to get connecting cabins for both of those sailings, so its not a critical issue for me, but I'd still like to see the new deck plan ... maybe there will be better choice.

I called DCL about a month ago to book my December 2014 Magic cruise and I asked the CM if they had the new deck plans yet. He told me that the addition of connecting cabins was just a rumor. Ugh ... I told him it came from a DCL video on DCL's Facebook page, but he dismissed me like I was wrong and said he didn't know anything about it. So, I guess we'll just have to keep watching the DIS.

The CMs answering the phones won't know about the changes until long after the first cruise.
