disembarkation

How early can you disembark the ship if you carry your own luggage off and not wait to be called? We want to get off as soon as we eat breakfast so that we can get to Disneyland early.

The time can vary depending on what time the ship actually makes it into port and when Customs clears the ship for disembarkation. Then, of course, it depends if all the Immigration/Customs people showed up for work that day on time. Generally the big doors open for disembarkation around 7:30-7:45.

What do you mean by, "not wait to be called"? We've never been called in four cruises. Does this happen at ports other than Canaveral?

Yes, at San Pedro, you disembark as they announce the character on your luggage tag. They have to do this because the luggage claim area is small and narrow. It helps keep things moving.

The "wait to be called" happens at some of the smaller ports. It does not happen at Port Canaveral. If you are handling your own luggage, you will be able to leave about 7:30. The Customs clearance announcement can occur a little earlier or a bit later, but that's not under DCL's control.

At PC, Barcelona, and most other ports, you are free to depart whenever you wish after the Customs announcement. However, at Seattle and ports with smaller luggage areas, you must wait till your "group" is called which means that your luggage is now available in the terminal.
