May or August?

We are planning our next trip and are trying to pick the better time of year to go. Our youngest will be 2 on Sept 11th so we need to depart Orlando by Sept 8th so that she can fly as a lap child (and save about $2000) I would prefer to go later with the hope of more of the expansion being completed and a couple of extra months to save up spending money but am concerened about the crowds in late August and am not sure if late May would be better. Can anyone give me an idea of how much busier August would be over May? Any other pros and cons between the months?

According to crowd calendars, late August has fairly low crowds, and late May has high crowds. If you could go at the beginning of May, the crowds are relatively low, and it's a lower price season. The weather is better too. Late August has a possibility of hurricanes and tropical storms. Here's a projected crowd calendar for 2013. It's based on several years of research. http://yourfirstvisit.net/wp-content...ndar-Final.jpg

I have been to Disney now 4 times total - twice with my fam (1st in Nov 2006 and 2nd in Aug 2009). It was my 2nd time going in Aug.

We LOVE going in Aug...its no warmer then than it is in late June or July and the crowds are way smaller.....I am planning our 3rd fam trip for this Aug 2013.

Late May is usually pretty crowded, at least once you get close to Memorial Day. Plus, you can run into the early June events & lovebugs, which are everywhere & gross. Sometimes, Star Wars weekends start in May. Late August is pretty quiet in terms of crowds as most of the south has started school. Usually it's hot, but this year wasn't bad, except wet. Honestly, we usually hit more rain in June than August. The closer you get to Labor Day, the less crowded. I would choose August over May

Both months are hot, but my experience is that August has a higher humidity level. If that doesn't bother you, then I would go on August.

May is one of our favorite times of the year to go! Especially in the beginning. Not too busy, still not too hot and we love the flower and garden show in Epcot!

I've been in August as well, and it's pretty hot. Now that we have our DD and are expecting again, we try to avoid that time just because of the heat.

really even with school not returing until Sept 7th? I expect memorial weekend to be really crowded or will families wait until summer break?

I think the vast majority of American schools are back in school before Memorial Day.

Early/mid May is my favourite time! Fairly low prices, crowds are quite low and the weather is perfect
