1st cruise-online check in question

We are 1st time cruisers and are coming up to the 75 day mark for online check in and SO excited. From what I have read, you can check in at 12am eastern time. Is this also the time you can pick your port arrival time as well? Since this is our 1st cruise we want to get on as soon as possible! Do you recommend doing the online check in as soon as you can (waking up in the middle of the night) or can you wait till the morning to check in and still get a good arrival time?
Thank you so much! This board has given me so much great information in planning our vacation!!

At 75 days (midnight eastern time) you can book your excursions, spa stuff, Palo. I understand the actual check-in time doesn't start until later (I read here about 3 am eastern)

I don't think I would get up in the middle of the night for checkin, but for booking Palo I would.

It is 3am Eastern that you can do online check-in (and get your arrival time). For us, that is 8am so not a problem - I wouldn't have got up at 3am to do it but I did get up at 5am to book Palo - go figure

Thanks everyone! We are in central time so it would be 2am. Eek!! I will plan on doing checkin in the morning, unless I happen to wake up in the middle of the night (which is possible because I will be SO excited!!)

I did my online check in about 4 days late and I was able to get an 11:30 port time. I was very happy.

We just checked in on Monday morning for our cruise! We're central too, so I logged in at 11pm and booked my excursions. I 'meant' to wake up about 3, but slept until 4:35 our time. Due to us having 3 cabins, I wanted to get the earliest arrival time...I got 11:30am. I couldn't log onto the other rooms for a while, so at 6:30, I got another cabin checked in ,and got the same time. At 9am, I finally finished with the 3rd. We all got 11:30 am. I just didn't want to get a later time so we could all arrive together!

I just checked in 2 days late from my 75 days, had no problem getting that 11am time at the port.

I'm also a first timer and getting ready to do the check in and book excursions. My question is, do I need to have already done the online checkin before I can book the excursions? If so, what's the earliest I can do both?
