I haven't seen CMs with them in obvious bags, but as others have said they're at locations throughout Carsland. We've always found them at the Route 66 store (left side, before Luigi's). Some CMs ask you trivia, others do not. They're pretty forgiving about getting the answer right (or letting you ask for help). All of the questions I've been asked have been about Cars and/or Carsland. Some will let you pick a color, other CMs just hand you a button (I'm sure you can ask for a color if you need to).

It probably is just a matter of random luck if CMs are handing them out. In December we were handed one by a janitorial CM when we in line for RSR. He needed us to squish together so he could get by and as he went by, he handed us a purple button.

Back in dec we were given a red one -- a CM in Flo's noticed that my toddler was being really patient, and offered it to him. It was in her pocket.

We went at the beginning of Nov. and during EMH we went on Mater's JJ. No one was in line and on the low stone walls of the queue they had TONS of the buttons. The CM saw us looking and told us to take as many as we wanted. I got one full set and gave it to a friend's child when we got home.
