Disney Favors - I'm Going Nuts!!
Trying to think of some favors that don't cost an arm and a leg and that are USEFUL... Unfortunately, I already used coasters for our engagement party, and I think it would be tacky to repeat (Uhhhh... thanks for the coasters, Emily.... AGAIN). I'm trying to find something with a Mickey theme to it, but everything ends up being too expensive to get 50+ items of it.
Also, how do you all feel about every single person getting a favor, or every couple getting a favor? (And the single people still get their own, of course, lol!)

How many guests? and what is your max budget? Where are you having your wedding what are your colors and whats your theme? If any? I can then post some ideas. I did multiple favors, I have favors as part of my save the dates. I got his and her favors for my oot bags and I did his and her favors for reception. I think I stayed well within my budget but I also have a small wedding party of 26 guests. I'd be happy to give you ideas just need some more info.

If all elses fails, you could always go totally traditional (well its a British tradition not sure if its world-wide LOL)
You give your guests 5 sugared almonds in a little fancy bag tied with some nice ribbon. What does the 5 almonds in wedding favours mean? Jordan Almonds, sometimes called confetti, are sugared or candy-coated almonds that are usually produced in bright, pastel colours. The bittersweet taste of fresh almonds symbolizes life. The sweet candy coating represents hope that the newlyweds will enjoy more sweetness than bitterness. Five almonds are presented to represent wishes of happiness, health, wealth, children and longevity. The number five is indivisible. It's used to symbolize the strength of the new union and to show that the couple will share everything and not be divided.

I noticed your in ny if you can go into the city and hit the garment district or canal st you can find pashminas for around 3-4 each maybe less if your buying in bulk. Also check our Pearl river market they have fans and other stuff you could use.

You could alway donate money in lieu of an actual tangible favor to some charity (make a wish foundation because they grant Disney Trips or some charity that is close to your heart) in you and your hubby's new name and give each person a mickey head cookie cutter with a tag attached to each one explaining the donation. (For example, I did not want to give you the "Cookie Cutter" favor so instead I donated $XX to Make a Wish in honor of all my guests celebrating our marriage.)
My sister donated money to the American Heart Assoication and gave everyone a heart cookie cutter and attached a tag.

What's the budget you are trying to keep to for favors?
I've seen lots of cute ideas reading through various planning journals...if you have an idea what you are looking to spend, I bet the fabulous brides on here will have lots of great ideas. Having said that...I don't think you HAVE to do favors. While they're a nice "thank you for attending" extra, an awful lot of wedding favors (unless they're edible) end up collecting dust or not catching the plane home...Most guests won't remember them a year from now, and if money's tight...they'd probably rather you spent it on good food or an extra dessert than on favors. Just my humble opinion.... Good luck! Brooke |

So, here's what happened...
My future mother-in-law found these beautiful Disney ornaments for us at Costco for only $4.75 each... it was a steal beyond anything we could hope for. The problem though, is we're afraid we can't get them all down to Disney... they are all in individual boxes and very breakable, and Disney says they will only accept 2 boxes of stuff from us. I'm thinking we would need at least 3 or 4. Also, I'm worried about people getting them back home. I'm thinking we just lucked out with that price and that we might need to up it if we really want to do something nice... something like $8 a person? Personally, I really want to do the donation thing (I lost my mother to breast cancer) but I was told that it might be tacky. I thought it would be appreciated. I look around on favor websites, and I see things that I feel like will just end up in a slush drawer. Or maybe we should still try to transport the ornaments... I don't know, I'm in my "overwhelmed phase", between waiting for my budget to arrive and trying to figure out who's coming and who's not, lol!! I don't want to go over $10 a person, we have a lot of people coming. We are doing a lot for our guests... really nice food, characters at the wedding, and the dessert party with fireworks. I feel a little lost right now.

While Disney Weddings may only take a few boxes, what about shipping to the hotel you are staying at? They should accept whatever you send. Just write box 1/4, 2/4, etc...
Are you flying southwest? if so, take advantage of the 2 bag/box checked per person! You could also take a picture of the ornament and then tell people you will distribute the breakable item when you get home to ensure safekeeping....

We're combining our entertainment with favors. We're using the characature artist and then providing envelopes with customized "thank you" stickers for them to use to fly home with.

What about Disney kitchen towels? You can take the 2packs and split the up and roll them up with some nice ribbon? Light weight, easy to pack.....

There is nothing tacky about this wonderful idea. Do it. Take no notice of anyone and celebrate your mum at your wedding x

I don't think a donation is tacky at all, I have seen a lot of people do it and usually to a charity that is near and dear to their heart, which seems to apply for you.
We gave flip flops, parasols, fans and koozies, throughout different parts of the day. We also gave welcome bags. I know Ashley (Ash8716), her wedding was in December and she gave Christmas ornaments. Instead of having them at the wedding, she had them delivered to her guest rooms while people were at the wedding, so when they came back home (to their rooms), the ornament was there waiting for them. If you have people staying on property, this could definitely work, and be a nice surprise!

I agree that a donation is not tacky. Remember that it is your wedding and do what you feel is right. I think it is a wonderful way to honor your mom.
After you wedding you can always donate your dress to http://bridesabc.org/ |
