World of Color at 8:30pm ...but DCA closes at 8pm?

Hey all, haven't been here in a while (been busy planning our first WDW trip ) so I need some advice for our upcoming Disneyland day (we want to watch WoC again).

We're planning on going Tuesday May 3rd. And the schedule is:
Disneyland 9am - 8pm
DCA 10am - 8pm (WoC @ 8:30)

Are they still doing the fastpasses for WoC?
Should we get into DCA right when it opens at head straight for the WoC "fastpass" at Grizzly River Rapids?

Thanks!

Yup, WOC starts after DCA closes. Gives people time to exit the park and/or get over to the WOC viewing area. We will also be there that day (Mon-Wed) for WOC. We are doing the dinner package with reserved seating however you can still get a Fastpass at GRR in the morning. If you want to run over there you will be guaranteed the best viewing spot however it should be very quiet that week so I wouldn't be too worried about it. I'm sure passes will be available through 1 or 2ish. Enjoy!

Yes you will want to get a WoC Fastpass. But won't need to get one ASAP. Take a look at This post on how the FP tickets are distributed.

BTW, have you read Hydroguys WDW Introduction for DLR vets?

This is fairly normal for them to do a show 30 minutes after park closing when the park closes that early.

They do Fastpasses for WOC still and they are required, depending on how busy of a day it is, you may want to head there first thing.

I had not been paying attention but the OP is right. Late April and early May WOC is scheduled for 8:30PM. FWIW those are the nights that F! is off the schedule. Maybe that has something to do with it. Check out Thursday May 12 where WOC is at 8:45PM. Then on May 13 it goes to 9PM.

Guess now that I think about it, I bet it is related to sunset in May and the days getting longer. Why else to 8:30 or 8:45?

This is what I am thinking! It needs to be DARK for optimal showing so the longer days equal later shows.
