My nephew wants to get my mom an iPad for Christmas. Bless his heart, he is going to pay for 1/2 of it. (Can I just say how thoughtful he is at only 16?). Anyway, is the best place to get a good deal is on the Apple Refurb site? He found an iPad2 for $319.

My mom will mostly be using it to surf the net and sell her stuff on eBay. (To give you an idea, her current computer is probably 10 years old, so even if it is small or not decked out, it will be much better than what she has!).

Anyway, is there any other place I should go/look?

Apple is the site I would get it from.I would be a little hesitant to go to Ebay. I've also bought refurbished items from Apple,so I trust them! Buying an I-Pad for his mom is so,so thoughtful! Not many teens I know would get one for their mom,before they got one!

I just ordered a refurbished iPad two from apple and am very pleased with it.

Apple refurbs are as good as new. They come with a one year warranty as the brand new ones. They have a brand new battery and outer shell and a new charger and cable.

It is questionable where is Walmart getting these refurbs from. Recently they've been selling them online and they did mention they are 3rd party refurbished. I honestly would stay away from them.

An iPad 2 is a great device. For an adult, I would not consider the iPad mini, which has the same specs as the iPad 2, but a smaller foot print.

Apple has the iPad 3 refurb (might be out of stock) at $379, but honestly, there is very little difference to distinguish it from the iPad 2 - Siri is not available on a 2, but it is on a 3.
