Can you merge/consolidate Disney gift cards?

I'm getting frustrated because I'm getting conflicting information from the Disney gift card customer service people.

I have 40 gift cards that I don't want to lug around with me on our upcoming trip. I would rather have 1 or 2. I read on here that some people have been able to consolidate a bunch of cards down to a few.

I called over the weekend and was told they can consolidate them but they only do it on weekdays.

I just called and the person there said they do NOT consolidate gift cards.

Have other people been able to do this? Is there a different contact number? Please help.

I know you cannot use a Disney gift card to load another Disney gift card.

You should probably go to a Guest Relations area at a park or DTD, not try to do this at a resort or store.

I have tried many times and was not able to do this. The best solution I found was to charge everything to my room and then settle up the bill with the gift cards.
