Where in States to purchase Kindle Paperwhite?

I'm in Canada. I have a friend spending the weekend in Buffalo soon, and my mom really would like a Kindle Paperwhite. Could you tell me some names of stores who sell electronics for me to check out please?

She does not want the 3G model ($179). The next paperwhite down costs either $119 WITH advertising or $139 without the advertising. Who the heck wants ads while trying to read a book??

I phoned Bestbuy but they do not sell the $139 without advertising model.

What other stores can I check? TIA!

I would say check with Walmart or Target. I have seen both at those stores. Good Luck on your hunt! Hope you find the Paperwhite

Walmart and Target no longer carry Kindles. OP your best choices are Best Buy and Staples.

On my Kindle, the ads only come up when it's in sleep mode not while you're trying to read. It's really not distracting at all.

The ads do indeed only come up when not reading and is not distracting at all, in fact many of the offers can save you money if you would normally shop on Amazon.

I should have thought of Walmart and Target. At least I do not need to worry about them now however. I will check with Staples. Thanks.

Well, now that she & I did not know. Thanks! I will tell my mom. That should not be a problem them. I wondered why Amazon would put ads into people's books. I'm glad to hear it is not like we imagined.

Neither franchise sells kindles anymore. They have stopped selling them due to the competition Amazon has with online sales.

Oh well. I guess it's not meant to be.

Staples does not have a store in Buffalo. And BestBuy, while their website advertises them, 5 of their locations in/near Amherst area do not have them in stock.
