Very touching
Thank you for posting the link. I cried throughout all 4 blog entries of the blog. I too have an autistic child and was so touched by the blog. Disney truly is a magical place!

Last year we went for the first time to Disney and what my son experienced is priceless and I will cherished every moment of pure joy he experienced.

I like going to MK at Rope drop one time

We go at Rope drop at MK one morning just because of the show is neat to watch, but I like going to EMH on MK morning because we can do so much before noon!!!!

And you are right, my son barely ever smiles, hardly shows enjoyment, so to see him so happy and laughing and squealing in excitement made my heart so happy. In fact so happy that we are going back this year.

I know people frown on folks that use the GAC, but i am of the mindset, that they dont know my son, they dont know that every year he is voted most quietest child at school, and the least likely to smile, and that he has suicidal thoughts at the age of 9. He is trapped in his own mind. And if I can help him wear a perma grin by golly i am gonna do it!!!
.

i agree. My soni is 12 and the challenges he faces just to get through a day are heartbreaking. He also has been talking of suicide since he was 8. He just was recently hospitalized because he could no longer handle the challenges he has as a person with autism. I could go on as I am sure you could as well. Which is why I also agree that while there are many posts frowning upon the assistance our children recieve through the use of the GaC, I still use it. If only they lived a day in our childs life they would understand. I am just thankful to Disney for the assistance they provide and the joy that they bring to our children and others like them!

My first trip to WDW my partner (former CM) said "What time do you want to set the alarm for?" I replied "I'm on vacation - I don't want to set an alarm at all!" He said "Disney World isn't a sleep in kind of vacation. You get up and get to the park early".

We did early entry to the MK. We experienced five Fantasyland attractions and SM in that first hour. When we walked through Fantasyland at 11 a.m., every attraction had at least a 45 minute wait posted. So we did in that first hour what would have taken five hours to do at 11 a.m.. That's what rope drop is all about.

If your son really wants to ride SM as much as possible, not only should you do rope drop, you should get to the MK on a morning EMH day before opening and go at it! If the rest of the family doesn't want to get out of bed, it can be a dad and son bonding morning, and the rest of the family can meet up with you later.
