I am so thrilled we are leaving on Thursday 2/12, driving to Lorton and getting on the auto train to Mickey!

This is our first auto train experience. Any advice from those of you who have travelled this way before?
We are 2 adults and 3 children ages 9, 7 and 5. What do I need to pack for the train trip-ie. pillows, blankets, clothes, towels. etc.?

Thanks for your 2 cents. Any info. is appreciated.

I brought our pillows, pj's, toothbrushes and a change of clothes for the next day. They do have towels/face clothes on the train for the showers. I have to say, the showers are not powerful at all and we usually just shower once we check into our hotel. Gameboys, coloring books or a portable DVD player help too! If you have a family room, keep in mind they are small so there isn't much room to store items. I hope this helps.

We will not be in a "room", just coach.
Thank you for the info. Now where do I put this stuff-like the blankets and pillows and "toys" and snacks and change of clothes. I assume there is an overhead storage-but is it safe?

When I was younger I backpacked in Europe and I remember being warned of sleeping on trains and where to keep your money(under clothes on your back while sleeping). Although I am not really worried about that but I was more curious about being able to leave our things at our seats and walking around.
Thanks for your input.

yes there is some storage by your feet. Also there is storage overhead. I always take my pocketbook with me to dinner.

On my way to dinner - I've travelled by seats and have seen blankets and pillows on chairs.

We usually bring pillows, blankets, and a change of clothes and a toiletry bag. Since you have children, it would not be a bad idea to bring a towel and toys.
