The 130 acre Swan and Dolphin resorts are NOT Disney owned hotels. Starwood runs both these hotels and leases the land from Disney. You can make reservations through Disney (407) 934-7639 or (407) 824-8000, the Starwood number (888) 828-8850 or the resorts themselves (see above). Because Disney does not own them, they can give discounts that Disney does not. The resorts also have a Starwood preferred guest program Starwood Preferred, which you can earn points leading to free upgrades or free stays. Becoming a member also gives you some advantages. On their site you can choose if you want feather pillows or foam. Also smoking preferences and room preferences can be entered. Also using the Swan/Dolphin local Reservations numbers above gives you a "local" confirmation number, which is straight out of our property management system. (or, they can fax directly to you.)This makes it easier to get your reservation info when calling the resort itself to make special requests.

If you would like to make a request after your reservation is made, click here. Click reservations on the right, and then click special room requests. Please note that your request is not confirmed until you receive an e-mail confirmation. If you need to cancel your special room request or if you need more immediate assistance, please call the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin at (407) 934-4645. I would make this request with in a few days of arrival only.

White Glove privileges from American Express sadly not available at the Swan or Dolphin resorts.

If you would like to learn about the architecture of the Swan and Dolphin and the man who designed it, click here!

To read all the opinions on the Swan and Dolphin on Epinions.com, just click here!

<font size=4>Resort Info</font>

The Swan has a 12 story main building and two 7 story wings that hold 758 guest rooms. When you approach the hotel, look up on the roof. The two swans that you'll see are 46 feet high and 56,000 pounds each. The Dolphin hotel consists of a 27 story main building and tower and 4 nine story wings that house the 1,509 guest rooms. Coral and turquoise adorn the exterior of the hotel, as do giant banana leaves. Two 56-foot Dolphin fountains rest atop the hotel. Dolphin is closer to the YC/BC and the Swan is closer to the Boardwalk. Both have indoor corridors with whimsical beach scenes. Even the light fixtures are made to look like clouds and room doors like cabanas. Most recent major renovation took place in January of 1997. The hotels are connected by an outside walkway(bridge) where you can catch the launch to Epcot or MGM. Both resorts have been booked for families of 5. Rollaway beds are $25 per night. Cribs are free of charge for children under three. They are full sized cribs not port-a-cribs and have bumpers around them. Only 20% of the rooms at each hotel have the desired Epcot fireworks view.Click here to go to a site with a layout map of the Swan/Dolphin. Also, if you want to learn about our SwanDolphin's terrifying adventure into one of the huge dolphins on the roof click here.

HINT!!!!
Call on Fridays to see if anything (discount, room cancellations and such)has become available as that is when they update their systems!

Like Disney-

Staying at the Swan or Dolphin includes surprise mornings, E-ticket nights, WDW transportation to all Disney attractions, length of stay passes, free parking, guaranteed park admission, package delivery to the hotel from the parks (not to the room, but to guest services), same day dining reservations, preferred tee times, and access to guest services. Dine with Disney characters for breakfast or dinner in selected Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin restaurants, on selected days. They will also hold luggage before check in and after check out if needed.

Unlike Disney-

Unlike other Disney resorts, charging privileges don't extend beyond the Swan and Dolphin. All purchases and dining expenses at both the Swan and the Dolphin can be charged to your pre-arranged account. There are no Disney toiletries in the guestroom and no Mickey wake-up calls. They do have great oatmeal bath bars! NO refillable mugs. Hey, Swandolphin this is definitely a HINT! No relocation help if splitting stay between Swan/Dolphin and a Disney owned resort. Also, you can not use Disney Dollars to pay for hotel stay.

<font size=4>Reservations through DreamsRES</font>

DreamsRes is a service offered through Dreams Unlimited Travel by which they have negotiated rates and blocks of rooms directly with non-Disney owned and operated hotels (including the Swan/Dolphin, Downtown Disney Resort Hotels and many off-property hotels).

The Swan/Dolphin can either be booked through their DreamsRes system or their "regular" Dreams system. The difference is that if they use WDTC or CRO to book the hotel, as is the case with their "regular" Dreams system, they cannot secure the discounted rates. So if you want the discounted rates you must book through their DreamsRes system.
If someone wants a Disney package (i.e. park passes, etc.) at either the Swan or Dolphin this would have to be booked through Dreams Unlimited Travel's "regular" system and subsequently
through WDTC - so no discounts would apply.

In some instances clients may find that the dates entered in the system DO NOT show available discounts, but when contacting the hotel directly the discounts are available. This generally occurs if the hotel has not updated their inventory and or discount availability in the DreamsRes system. If this is the case, and the guest wants to still use DreamsRes system then DreamRes will contact the hotel and try to secure those rates and dates as well.

<font color=red><font size=6>***</font></font>New AAA promotion click here <font color=red><font size=6>***</font></font>

DreamsRes now offers priority-seating services.
Thanks WebmasterJohn for the explanation.

To book through DreasRES click here.

<b>Straight A's Club-</b>
Kids can particiapte in the straight A's club, "By showing a report card with all "A's" at check-in, students receive a "Straight A" cap and voucher.
When the child wears the cap in the hotels' restaurants, he or she can redeem the voucher for a free ice cream and the parents receive a one-time 20% discount on the honor student's meal."

<b>Kid's Passport.</b>
Upon check-in, your child will receive a Kid's Passport.
This entitles them to a free ice cream cone or cup of ice cream at the Dolphin Fountain or Splash Terrace after they have collected five stamps from various parts of the hotels, including restaurants, shops and other
facilities.

<center><font color=red><font size=5>Refillable mugs at the Swan and Dolphin!!</font></font></center>
Yes, you can now purchase a refillable mug for $12 at the Swan and Dolphin. The only place you can get it filled at for the time being is at Tubbi's at the Dolphin. We bought two this trip and have gotten our moneys worth!! Yipppeeeee!!!!

<font size=4>Room description </font>

The guest rooms feature either two queens(Swan)or two doubles(Dolphin) or a king bed. Some have balconies with views of the other resort, the grpound, or Epcot. The rooms are decorated in the turquoise and coral colors. The furnishings are made of a light wood giving the room an airy feel. There was a wicker basket in the shape of a clam shell on our bathroom counter. In it was several plush towels and a variety of toiletries. The tub/shower combination also had a towel rack mounted in the back that contained towels and wash clothes. The Swan has two sinkd one located inside the bathroom and one outside the bathroom. The Dolphin has only one sink. Extra pillows are on top self of the closet.

<b>View info/ Balcony info</b>
Lake View rooms are mostly between the "fingers" of the building, with view of Crescent lake area, but a limited view due to the building. The Resort view rooms are more of a "wide open" view, with the possibility of view of the white sandy beach area, pools, or even Epcot. Standard rooms we describe as "non designated view", and most are on the wooded side or parking lot areas. The Swan "standard views" tend to have a bit better view (MGM ,TOT)than the Dolphin due to location. Front of either hotel is "Standard" views. Hope this helps people a little more!

Balcony rooms tend to be on the fingers or wings of each resort and in rooms facing the other resort. Balconies have two chairs and a small table. Balcony rooms 3rd floor and below tend to have balcony rooms right next to each other. Rooms over the 3rd floor alternate room with a balcony and room w/o.

<font size=4>Suites</font>

Both hotels have two bedroom suites where you have one bedroom on either side of a living room. Many of the bigger suites also have king Murphy bed (Dolphin) or sleep sofa in the parlor portion. All have dividing doors, except the "Junior Suite" at Swan, which is one extra large room, but no door to divide. The two level Presidential suite is a mere $3,100 per night.

<font size=4>Handicap Information</font>

The Dolphin has 52 handicap accessible and equipped rooms, based on availability. Rooms are equipped with roll-in showers, bars on bathtub walls, push button door bell, wider bathroom doors, along with other requests. The Swan has handicap accessible rooms based on availability. Both resorts will also waive the valet fee for parking your car if you have a wheel chair bound person in your car and have a plate or placard that says HC. Also, wheelchairs are available for use from the hotel.

<font size=4>What other basic services are available for everyone? </font>

The cashier at the front desk will cash personal and traveler's checks up to $100 if you are a resort guest.
The Concierge Desk can assist with: airline reservations, babysitting referrals, church services, notary public, flowers, limousine service. This is available to all.
For facsimile services(fax), visit the Business Center, open weekly from 7:00 am to 6:30pm.
Contact the shipping desk to assist in mailing packages or overnight letters.
Stamps are available at the front desk

<font size=4>How do I get to the resort?</font>

Take I-4 to Exit 26B (Epcot Center/Disney Village). Take 2nd exit (Epcot Resorts/Disney/MGM Studios). Turn right at 5th traffic signal (Epcot Resorts Boulevard) and look for the Dolphin sign, shortly after the Swan and Fantasia Gardens, you'll turn right here.

<font size=4>Grotto Pool info</font>

The Grotto pool is open 24 hours a day. Towel service and lifeguards are only available from 9am - 9pm year round. Guest swimming before or after those hours do so at their own risk. Pool is heated, though it is cooler than the Disney owned resorts because of size and the waterfall.

There is a sandy area near the Grotto pool that has a large seal in the middle. When you press the button under it, the seal sprays a light spray. Great for toddlers and children who get nervous in pools. At the Grotto pool small children are required to use life jackets if they are using the slide. Jackets are free of charge with a room key. You can also rent large alligators, tubes and assorted other stuff. I also think they rented sand toys, but not quite sure they might have been for sale. The pool is huge, 3 acres total. In the middle they have the waterfall with the slide on the right and a hot tub (there are more hot tubs in the pool area) on the left. It is difficult to find the entrance, but it is there. They also have volleyball net at one end of it. The deepest it gets is about 5 and half feet. Near the waterfall the water is about 3ft. or so. Near each hotel there is a quiet lap pool. A picture of the Grotto Pool, another Groto picture, yet another Groto picture.

<font size=4>Room discounts are available- </font>

AAA discounts are offered, with the rates varying according to availability. Members of Starwood Preferred Guest Club should inquire as to the benefits available to them. The Entertainment Orlando Book- Entertainment Book(and other city Entertainment Books offer 50% off rack rates at the Swan and Dolphin Hotels. The Entertainment card is in all the local books. You don't have to buy the Orlando, Fl one. Costs range from $20 to $35 each. You do not need to have the card when you are making the reservation, but will need it at check in. New Disney Club "entertainment feature Travel America" will also be treated as an Entertainment card at the Swan and Dolphin! AARP discount is 25% off rack rates. :D

Government employees and teachers have special rates. Teachers/Nurses must ask for the TEACH/Nurse discount. Bring identification to prove that you are either. You can reserve up to three rooms with this discount. Government employees are anyone that works for the Federal, State or city government. This is also available to all of our Canadian government employees! The Teacher rate and the Government rate are $129 for the Dolphin $144 for the newly decorated Swan. for 2003, based on availability.

<font size=4>NEW ANNUAL PASS HOLDER DISCOUNT</font>

To Qualify: Must be an annual or seasonal passholder, and will need to show the pass at time of registration for the discount. Rate Schedule is based upon availability. Currently, only sold through local office (800-227-1500) available via other channels (Dreams Unlimited, etc.)currently. Those currently holding other rate schedule reservations are certainly allowed to switch to new plan, as long as discount is available in system.

If you are having problems with the late check out part of the AP rate please follow these directions- It is built as part of the rate schedule with its own code (2pm).Please ask for a reservations sales teamleader if the desk ever is confused on particulars of a program that you know of.
If you want to check in advance, just ask to make sure the late check out is noted in "special service codes"which it should be. This also goes for the room upgrade or other things associated with the rate.

<font size=4>New info on discounts</font>

The Swan and Dolphin will now align with the Disney resorts if the way you book your ressies. If you make a ressie and your reservation starts in LOW season, it will stay in low season even if the rate goes up because of season change.

<font size=4>BENEFITS:</font>

50% Discount off of published RACK Rate

A "One Category" bonus upgrade (example, the price in the system for a Resort View room is actually 50% off of a Lake View room, the category below the one that you are reserving)

PLUS, late check out extension until 2PM on the date of departure! I decided to add both perks to the program as double bonus.

Below are sample available date ranges as of this very minute, which will be subject to change in the future. (at either Swan, Dolphin, or both) The dates are inclusive of the end date. Up to three rooms may be reserved at the AP rate per caller. These date ranges also currently apply to the Entertainment Club rates, as well as most other discounts if you are not a Passholder.

<font size=4>Here are some things to do to increase your chances of getting an upgrade!</font>

1) go to www.swandolphin.com
press go to reservations
then press special room requests
fill in the request about two weeks before you go
if you don't hear from them then do it again a few days before you go. Don't worry to much if you don't hear from them.

2)Call the 1-800-227-1500 number and make sure it is noted on your reservation.

3)If you haven't already done so go to
http://www.preferredguest.com/login.jhtml
Then get your temp card.
This will let you get points on each of your visits, get express check in and out, and free upgrades when you have enough points. Many people have gotten upgrades even w/o enough points. There is also a preference section and you can put King sized beds, feather or foam pillows and turn down service here!

Hope this helps!

Hidden Mickey's
Yes! Even here at the Swan and Dolphin!
1)In the lobby, below check-in counter there are paintings of palm trees with three coconuts in the form of Mickey.
2)There are wall hangings throughout the hotel banquet and convention hall area with a drawing of a palm tree. On the palm tree are three coconuts arranged a Hidden Mickey.
3)There is a Hidden Mickey in the top of the dome of the Garden restaurant. Just look at the roof while you are having breakfast and you will see it.
4)On the headboards at the Dolphin, three coconuts in the shape of a Mickey Mouse. This was pointed out to me by an employee/Cast Member.

For a satellite view of the Swan and Dolphin resorts then enter the address 1500 Epcot Resorts Blvd., Lake Buena Vista FL 32830

Here are two views of typical rooms in the resort.

A great big "Thank You" to Swandolphin for all his help, input and information. This would not have been possible w/o him!
