Anyone ever done the Dolphins In Depth Tour?
Can you tell me anything about it? How was it? Was it worth the money? Did you enjoy it? Anything else I should know?
I'm very seriously considering this on our April trip. Is it any good?

Hello Heather.
My sister and I did the tour in May and absolutly loved it.We were picked up by our two guides outside the Gates of Epcot and than taken Backstage to the living seas. After an introduction about the tour and Dolphins in general, they showed us the top of the Aquarium, where we later would go into the water.During that Calvin swam over and seemed to check everybody out.he seemed very curious. Then we got Lapcoats and watched the demonstration in the pavillon itself to see how they rain them. After that we changed into Wetsuits and then followed the highlight. Our group of 8 was split into 4 and each group had one trainer to meet the Dolphins up close. They took Photos for each person or couple.Halfway through they switched and we got the chance to meet the other one as well. They are so sft to touch and really beautiful.Altough the water in the tank is cold i hardly realised that, also the other fish who we swimming around our feet. After a shower and back in our normal clothes,we finished the tour with some soft drinks, got our T-shirts and photo and some Infomaterial. Overall:Yes,it is pricey, but all the money goes into enviromental programms...and I would definitly do it agailn. Hope ,that helps a little. Greetings from germany Conny

OK, I have a question, I was thinking about surprising my mom with this, as she has always wanted to "swim with the dolphins" but doesn't know how to swim. My question is this, would there be any problem with a plus size fitting in the wet suit??? My friend who will be coming with us is plus size, and I wouldn't want her to get embarassed.

Seems to me like somewhere I read a review by someone who was a plus size and she had no trouble. My DH is 6 foot, 225 and had no problem. (You might want to check out the tour reviews on www.allearsnet.com - I think that might be where I saw it.)

My mom surprised me with Dolphins in Depth and I loved it. It is a great program for those who are interested in dolphins and marine animals. A good portion of the experience is spent out of the water learning about conservation techniques, dolphin behaviors, and explaining research experiments and how they are performed, which I found very interesting, but others might consider boring. Our guide, Jason was very friendly and extremly knowledgable he answered any and all our questions and all the staff made us feel very comfortable. They only ask you two sizes. Your shoe size for the booties and your tshirt size. They are very good at figuring out the wetsuit size on their own. Also, it is not necessary to know how to swim. During the in water time with the dolphins (the BEST part!
), you are standing on top of an observation deck and at no time do you leave that deck. I later heard some of the staff say that they don't even get into the tank with the dolphins because they aren't used to humans swimming around them and they don't know how the dophins would react. It is an awesome experience and I would recommend it to anyone who was interested. The price might seem high, but none of the money goes to Disney, and you are actually helping out the environment. I would love to say more but I don't want to ruin the program for those who are planning on going. Just know that it will be an experience that you will never forget!

Here's the link to my review:
http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=687336 There was a woman in our group who looked to be a smaller plus size, she had no problems fitting her wetsuit, well no more than the rest of us Plus DH is 6'5", 225 lbs, with size 15 feet and yes they found everything for him that fit down to the booties!HTH

My husband and I did this tour during our last trip in Sept 2004. It was outstanding. It was one of the best experiances we have ever had at WDW. It was worth every penny. We got a 20% discount with our Disney Visa card but even if we had paid full price it would have been worth every penny. You are given a locker and are able to take a shower after so I would pack a bag so you can shower off the salt water and change into clean clothes. We did not know about the showers or we would have prepared differently.
