First Timer, Best Counter Service Meals?

I have a friend who is a first timer to the World. He will be spending one day at each of the parks.

He thought that counter service meant hot dogs and burgers the whole trip. I want to provide him with some samples of the best counter service meals the parks have to offer.

Having been many times myself I can't even think of where to begin in narrowing down the choices.

He'll be spending only a half day at epcot! How can I possibly think of just one place to eat there .

So what are your personal favorites at each of the parks (i'd like to omit any hotel or downtown disney restaurants)?

MK: BoG (lunch) or Cosmic Rays (dinner)
Epcot: Sunshine Seasons (any meal) or in just snacking around WS
AK: Flame Tree
DHS: Um...none really come to mind for savory food (Starring Rolls for cupcakes is great).

Can't go wrong with very most options at Epcot, but some of my favourites are either Sunshine Seasons at the Land Pavilion (so many healthy choices!) or Tangerine Cafe at the Moroccan pavilion. The portions are huge and it's an "exotic" meal that I find really tasty. Just tell them to stay away from Electric Umbrella and they're good.

At Magic Kingdom, Be our Guest has some lovely lunch options, but it might be hard to get in, so Colombia Harbor House would be my go-to for something different. Though I do love the fixings bar at Pecos Bills!

Animal Kingdom would have to be Flame Tree BBQ. It's one of the best quick service in all WDW in my opinion.

HS, well.... not much, but Backlot Express has a few options that are beyond burgers/fries. I enjoy the grilled veggie sandwich. They also have a turkey club panini.

Nice of you to help out your friends!

p.s. I just noticed you too are from Ottawa! Glad to see I'm not the only Disney nut in town

I enjoy the Turkey sandwich at Starring Rolls also.

Good thread!

Epcot: Fish and Chips @ Yorkshire County Fish Shop
MK: Tortuga Tavern
AK: Flame Tree
HS: Disclaimer - I don't eat here because of the poor choices but I love the dessert treats at Staring Rolls. I would ditch counter service at Hollywood Studios and opt for a resort or DTD.

If you're looking for something "different" --

MK - Has to be either BoG or Columbia Harbor House. Definitely not the hot dogs and burgers you get at many places!

Epcot - I would definitely say Sunshine Seasons. There's so much to choose from in just one spot and the desserts are wonderful.

AK - I haven't tried it yet--will this time around--but I keep hearing great things about Yak & Yeti. Again, definitely not burgers and dogs. Flame Tree is always a popular choice too.

HS - That one's tough! I might give up and just eat at the resort food court, depending on where he's staying!

MK: Columbia Harbor House for tuna or veggie/hummus sandwich. Sleepy Hollow for waffle sandwiches (it doesn't take CS credits though).

AK: Flame Tree BBQ

Ep: fish and chips in UK, Tangierine Cafe in Morocco, anything at the French bakery, Sunshine Seasons in the Land.

DHS: not great, but I do like the turkey and ham sandwiches at Starring Rolls.

At the Magic Kingdom, Columbia Harbor House is very good and quick. Go
upstairs and eat your meal there, quieter, many people don't know it even exists.
