Going from the Dream to the Wonder...

I have two different ideas about where I want to go. Having experienced the Dream I am not sure about the Wonder. I am ok with the small classic feel. But we spent so much time on the Aquaduck. We will miss that. The Wonder trip would be 7 days two of which are at sea. What do you do on the Wonder?

Thanks in Advance!

We've always found plenty to do. Check out past Navigators for what sorts of activities may be available:

Firstly let me be honest I haven't been on the Dream but I have been on it's twin sister the Fantasy. I went from the Fantasy to Dream last year and next week I am on the Magic.

Each ship has it's charm, the Aquaduck was great and I miss it but that was a few rides a day and there is far more to a cruise.

To give a full answer we didn't have any issues, each is a separate cruise, there are daytime activities the pools a lot to eat great shows a Toy Story pleased a very full house with laughter.

You cut the crowds down less on ship, less in ports and it makes a difference from the buses to the Ferrari's,

We went to presentations, bars, entertainment, used our verandah enjoyed room service watched movies went to Palo.

We were on the Anastasia 14 nights 2012 and Wonder 7 nights in 2013.

in my 90+ nights onboard Disney Cruise Ships only 10 have been on the Dream and Fantasy. I have 2 Panama Canal cruises with 10 sea days out of 14 (so 20 out of 28!!) Really never been bored onboard. Honestly, there have been a few times when none of the activities have thrilled me, so there's always "taking a nap" on deck 4 on the comfy recliners.

I love both the sea days and the port days - they are different experiences.

I think that on the smaller ships you can have a better "experience" with the cruise staff and that helps you enjoy the various activities more. The three "Big" activities that the new ships have that are not on the classic ships are: AquaDuck, Mid Ship Detective Agency and Mini Golf. These are basically "Do It Yourself" activities with your family, vs more group actives that are scheduled on the classic ships.

At this point I don't know when I will be on the new ships again. My DCL cruise plans are in place for the rest of this year and into next year - on the Classics. And I love it!

There is the aqua dunk not as good as the aqua slide but still fun. I really enjoy the classic ship better. Smaller so less walking. I feel you get better service on the classics as the staff get to know you and that helps to make the trip magical. Less crowding before theatre, and shopping areas.

Though the technology in the shows is better on the new ships Less line ups for Characters on the classic ships.

So I it really comes down to personal taste Also the cabins are bigger on teh classic ships

The AquaDunk is only on the Magic. OP is asking about the Wonder.

Thank you all for your responses thus far. True, the Aquaduck wasn't the only thing we did. We were very busy doing other things. Are the shows different??

This will give you an idea it's from the Wonder in Alaska, got shorter cruises cut out the guest entertainers.

Toy story is exclusive to the Wonder and a great show we had a full house for it.

A 7 day on a classic ship means you will have a character breakfast(you'll have a day and time assigned), and the princess tea (free, but go to guest services when you board to sign up.) Those are 2 of our favorite things available only on the classic ships.

Well, EXCEPT the Magic isn't doing Character breakfasts for her Med season (including the TA). And the Wonder isn't having the princess (or whoever) tea, as it's been replaced with Meet Anna & Elsa for the Alaskan cruises.

AND you need three sea days or two sea and a late port arrival. The OP only has two sea days.

I really like the character breakfast but the one we went to was not even close to full.

It's all relative, especially calling the Wonder "small." We love the Wonder, it feels like home, and we have never had a lack of things to do on that ship (or any of the others, for that matter...we're grand slam plus, so we've seen them all).

As adults we read, catch a show, swim, exercise, play deck games, enjoy Palo brunch, show, sit in the sun, enjoy gourmet coffee, listen to lounge entertainment...the days fly by.

How about the kiddos? I have an 8YO boy who loved the kids club on Dream. Especially the video games and things he could do when he didn't feel like participating in group activities. What will he think of Wonder?

Wonder is great lots of similar activities but the clubs are older.

I thought the club and lab looked better on the Wonder. They are completely separate and look bigger to me than the Dream areas. Because they are separate, the ages are more split out with younger kids in the club and older in the lab (which was the way it was originally intended).
