Who else looks forward to one of those afternoon Thunderstorms at WDW?

For some reason I look forward to encountering at least 1 afternoon Thunderstorm during my 7 days at WDW.

Something about it raining during or on the way to an attraction make the experience that-much-more enjoyable.

I remember riding the People Mover through one of the worst storms I've ever witnessed in the parks. And another time we rode Spaceship Earth a bunch of times while a storm passes.

Well it does help clear things out a little in the parks. TTA is a great "weather ride" choice to watch the rain.

Wink

Living with the Land used to be my rainy day ride of choice. Unfortunately now it is everyone's choice.

In fact Future World is a great place to spend a rainy afternoon.

Right here. We love watching the signs of an impending storm, posting up inside one of our favorite "weather" hideouts (Hello, Rose & Crown) and watching the storms clear out the crowds and cool down the parks. You get an hour break while most people clear out and go back to their hotels, and then you can stroll out and enjoy the parks with a little less congestion.

Most of the time, we'll poncho up with our great ponchos and go hit some rides during this time, and it's usually smooth sailing.

Of course, this is for the usual storms. There have been some monsters that basically had us hiding like scared rats. Watching the lightning storming into all the lightning rods is not cool at all. Once saw the roof of the Boardwalk start smoking after a hit - that was scary.

Though I don't welcome a thunderstorm we always try to make the most of them. Last year at AK it started to pour. We donned our ponchos and started heading for an indoor attraction. My 6 year old son started singing "It's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow". Completely touched my heart that he was still having a great time even though he was soaked. Disney magic!

Love the afternoon storm! It's a chance to get multiple viewings of Philharmagic! Then again I say this as someone who has previously only taken trips with my DW who feels the same way I do. Ask me again in Late August after going with my parents and 3 year old and I may have a much different answer.

My wife and I didn't enjoy them on our honeymoon last month. We knew there were going to be storms...however, we didn't figure on them lasting the majority of the day. We bought ponchos, but it was still miserable...and with lightning, a lot of the rides we like shut down. Now all we can talk about is when we can go again to redo the honeymoon.

I usually love them-cools everything off, thins the crowds...not sure they'll be quite as enjoyable with a toddler and stroller in tow on this next trip though

I don't mind rain but Florida storms freak me out badly. I've been caught in a couple of bad ones, including one in Epcot where lightening struck something at the front of the park. Florida is the lightening capital of the world, so the Florida storms are scary to me.

We have learned that it always rains in China, even if there is not another drop of rain our entire trip. It is weird.

Bummer.

I could do without them at WDW as I get to enjoy plenty of rain at home.

The lightning scares the bejeebus out of me if we are out. And then the storms don't always stop which is a drag.

This lat trip, the husband packed a poncho for his gear of the day, I didn't. It rained. I got wet. Oh well.

I get wet every single day of the year since I take a shower or bath every single day of the year. Is rain harmful? I don't think so.

Quite honestly, the worst part of rain is that it makes you look differently. But heck, I'm on vacation! I don't care how I look, I want to have fun! Rain coming down going into work is another story.

Not a fan. I can handle an afternoon rain, but these storms lately have been all afternoon into the evening kind of storms. Total bummer!

Since we don't get rain often at home, we loved it when we went and it was pouring buckets and lightening all day. It was about 3 of our 7 days there so we couldn't let it stop us. We did get very wet, but we had a great time.
