Nye 2014

Trying to decide what to do.

Hoop De Doo Review 8:30 seating w/fireworks on the FW beach to avoid the crowds. How are the views here?
-Or-
Bear the crowds all day at MK with a ADR break at 5:25 (Liberty Tree Tavern)

What would you do? I have teenagers. It's prob our last Disney Trip as a family before the college years. The idea of the HUGE crowds and long day scare me but I want it to be memorable evening.

We did 'Ohana and then fireworks on the beach. It worked out very well, there was a DJ set up on the beach and the kids had a blast (though it was very cold)

Given your choices, I would do Hoop Dee Doo, The view from the beach is good. Though I never think the crowds are worth the aggravation....

thanks! We've done O'Hana and fireworks on the poly beach before and LOVE the view without the crowds. I couldn't get a ADR for O'Hana on NYE and I'm thinking they might not let us on the beach without one. Curious what year did you go on NYE?

We're planning to do MK on the 30th (same fireworks, smaller crowds) and then Epcot on NYE. Even still, the crowds will be so bad that I have three ADR's throughout the day to keep us rested and sane.

There was noone stopping anyone from going on the beach or getting off of the monorail.

We were there this past December 2013-January 2014

That is wonderful news. Was it packed with people early?

On July 4th it was reported that only resort guests were allowed on the beach - they were scanning Magic Bands. I imaging it might be the same for NYE.

We were on the beach around 9ish. The kids swam in the pool until they closed it at 10. By 10:00 chairs were scarce but it was not crowded by any means. People started raiding chairs from everywhere and carrying them onto the beach, but it was never crowded. We sat on the back end of the pool, had a great view and there were only 2 or 3 other families there. The kids were on the beach and had a blast.

There was definitely no scanning of MBs or checking of any sort, but I have always heard that July 4th is a larger crowd than NYE.

Our big mistake was that we were staying at BWV. We tried walking through EPCOT after midnight and that was absolutely insane. The monorail stop at EPCOT looked like evacuation time for the end of the world....

WooHoo...Nothing was available a couple hours ago but checked again and just picked up a cancellation at O'Hana's for 9:20 dinner. Should line us up nice to see the fireworks after and now I don't have to worry about not getting on property or dealing with the MK crowds.
Very relieved.
