There are definitely shark nets around the family beach area. In fact, after storms go through they inspect them to make sure they are still in tact. They have restricted people from getting in the water whenever the nets were damaged. This happened after a hurricane.

Maybe I have a different definition of murky, but by afternoon both times we've been there, there is so much sand stirred up that it's like swimming in soup. The kids in our group misplaced a bucket they were playing with, and no one could see through the water to find it (until a lady swimming nearby kicked it).

Regardless.

I took this pic from the ship.

It's pretty much surrounded by..something. Rocks? The seawall or whatever is the right word.

Has anyone ever heard of a shark sighting there??

The water there is quite clear and essentially wave free--I would think a shark would be fairly easy to spot.

Now when I was at Bondi Beach in Australia--sharks were very much on everyones mind.
Yep - it was a small nurse shark "way out back" where we were on a DCL Kayaking excursion. If Serenity Beach faces "north" this was on the "east" side -- opposite of the family beach on the "west" side of the island.

Yes, we've seen nurse sharks on the Serenity Bay side.

There are shark nets on the family beach.
