Why would only a WEDNESDAY be unavailable ?

I want to stay at the Swan the first week of November and only the WEDNESDAY is the day unavailable
Do they have ONE day conventions?

The Dolphin is available that week

Perhaps there are overlapping conventions from the weekend before/after? Or people extending their stay?

Day after Veteran's Day so possibly people extending their vacations from the long weekend? One day convention is possible, I've attended one day seminars in my region. If they have people traveling from other areas, they may need sleeping rooms. Another thought that came to mind is that Wednesdays (and Tuesdays) are the cheapest days to fly so maybe people are flying in to start their vacations as well.

in my experience I have found they block off rooms for conferences. As it get closer they often open up. Sometimes though they don't release the rooms blocked off until 10-14 days prior. I usually book what's available and then book a back up somewhere in case nothing opens up

The scenarios suggested here make a lot of sense, but in the end it may just be one of the mysteries of resort availabilities at WDW. You'll occasionally see someone post here that EVERY room on property is booked during a certain time. Maybe it's like concert tickets: The show is soldout, but the week before the performance there are several thousand tickets released.

Best bet is to keep trying, and maybe slide your days around a bit (if possible).
