Health info card

My daughter gets nervous every time we travel and inadvertently throws up. Every time we board a plane, go on a long bus ride or anything else exciting. I'm terrified she'll throw up at the terminal and not be allowed on. Should I add this to my reservation right now (four weeks out?) would this bypass the health card?

I would get a Dr. note stating that she does this and it is from nerves and nothing else and is "normal" for her when traveling. Make sure they state that your DD is not currently sick. Have it dated as close to the boarding day as possible. If DCL feels someone should not board they usually have them "examined" at the terminal and will determine whether they can board. Seems like they should be able to tell if it is nerves or something else.

You will have to answer the health questionnaire, I don't think there's any way to "bypass" that -- it's one for the whole cabin and is quite general. It asks about vomiting or diarrhea PLUS FEVER. I'm guessing she doesn't run a fever when this happens so that should be fine. Vomiting alone can be caused by several things that are not contagious and the ship is mainly concerned that passengers who might be contagious not board and spread their germs. If necessary, she may need to see the medical team but I'm sure it can be explained as nerves. As PP suggested, it won't hurt to have a note from the doctor indicating this is a common issue for her and she is otherwise healthy.

Enjoy your cruise!

Definitely includes fever. And I find that question incredibly specific, not general. Fever plus other symptoms plus a specific time period. Very very specific.

That said OP, have you ever tried Rescue Remedy? It's a semi-homeopathic flower remedy, and it's amazing. We first found it when an employee at pet smart recommended it for our cat. Worked amazingly. Started using it for the humans in the house, including my then-little son, worked just as well. Really calms you down, but almost imperceptibly. You can almost forget you were freaked out a minute before. Might help a lot with the nerves!
