Last visit, in Oct of 11, my DH really wanted to do this
we just never got around to it
But wasn't sure if they still have it

Our Ratings of Cape May Buffet Dinner: (*rev 1/9/2014*)
. . . food price value: C
. . . food quality: C
. . . food quantity per serving: A
. . . food prep speed: B
. . . food selection: C
. . . seating quantity: C
. . . seating comfort: B
. . . eatery atmosphere: C
. . . eatery convenience: B
. . . staff friendliness: B
. . . staff attentiveness: C
. . . character interaction: n/a

Our Recommendations:
. . . appys: Seafood Chowder
. . . entree: Steamed Clams, Herb-marinated Salmon
. . . dessert:Pastries

NOTE: Average food quality. This is not the quality of a New England seafood buffet.
They do have crab legs, but they are smaller legs and the meat is REALLY stingy. Not
high in quality, but will do in a pinch, as will the clams or mussels. Clams are tasty, but
are smaller Littleneck clams. (Face it, you can't make big Disney profits if you use high
quality crab, clams, mussells on a medium-priced buffet.) Since the rehab, the ribs are
replaced with short ribs and the key lime tarts are gone. Oreo Bon Bons and Peanut
Butter Cookies are also gone from the buffet, but can be purchased in the resort's gift
shop. Another way to cut costs, they have replaced the corn-on-the-cob with niblets.
Absolutely pitiful way to cut things !

The new rotation for the "fried food" daily specials is:
. . . Sunday & Wednesday - fried shrimp
. . . Monday & Thursday - fried clam strips
. . . Tuesday & Friday - fried calamari
. . . Saturday, only - fried chef's choice
. . . Everyday - Paella, Snow Crab Legs, Steamed Clams, Herb-marinated Salmon

Yes! We always make a point to go there every trip. If you like crab legs and steamed clams, you can't go wrong. We think the quality is good and they are constantly replenishing them so they are always hot and you can have as much as you want. It's embarrassing how many trips my DH makes for the clams . In his defense, he doesn't eat much else on the buffet and there are a lot of really good selections. The mini flans on the dessert buffet are to die for.

Are the crab legs hot or cold? I cast member on the phone told me got after a long hold. Just want to make sure. We have ADRs for out honeymoon and aren't fans of chilled crab legs.

As others have said, it is still a clambake/seafood buffet, although there are plenty of other choices as well . We love Cape May as it's one of our favorites and is a must do for us every trip.

We are eating there on Saturday 6/7. According to Rusty Scupper that means fried chef's choice. I assume that means the chef chooses whether he/she will prepare shrimp or clams or calamari, is that right? (We love all three but we are our keeping fingers crossed it'll be the calamari!)

No characters at dinner, just at breakfast only (Mickey, Minnie & Goofy in beach attire!)

Crablegs are hot. Congrats & have a great honeymoon!

Also when we were there last week, corn on the cob was still on the buffet. Although some desserts have disappeared, the newer strawberry shortcake dessert is very yummy & I rarely like anything strawberry! And the little chocolate dessert is a wonderful chocolate overload!

We've never liked the carved beef or pork - always been dry and/or tough.

You didn't like the carved beef? We were there last June and the carved beef was my absolute favorite! It was the best tasting, most tender beef I had eaten in a very long time. I liked it so much I complemented the chef!
