Family of 4 + Grandparent

Hello - We are looking into a stay to get my Dads mind off my mothers passing for the holidays (thanksgiving or xmas) - We are a family of 4 (kids 10&11) and my Dad - looking for room suggestions for us. We have always stayed deluxe, but as kids are older this time we don't feel we have to stay on monorail. Thanks for any input.

I think your family would enjoy WL. It is very compact and it is beautiful during the holidays.

Agree that WL is great during the holidays, but unless they get a suite at WL, it wouldn't work. Standard rooms at WL sleep 4, but the OP has a party of 5.

You are right! I just assumed that they were getting two rooms.

OP, are you thinking of one room or two?

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking one space so as to keep my Dad with us, I am not sure if a DVC would work as I know nothing about them, or a suite or something at the Beach Club or Yacht club - it looked like they have a 1 or 2 bdrm suite but not sure what set up like, or if any other resorts have that type of set up, anyways, something like that! Thanks again!

You can rent DVC points for a 2 bedroom villa. My brother liked dealing with Dave at
http://www.dvcrequest.com/

You would want to book ASAP as the resorts will sell out quickly for the holidays.

I agree that a 2bdrm DVC rental is the way to go. That way dad gets his own space but is still with you. We stayed at Aulani in a 2bdrm with our two kids (almost 12 and 9 at the time) and FIL and it was great. DS11 ended up using the 2nd bed in the 2nd bedroom with FIL and DD slept on the sleeper sofa.

If you want dad to have his own room, and your kids can't share a bed (ours can't), stick with BLT, OKW, AKV, or VGF because they have a sleeper sofa and a sleeper chair in the living room. Technically you could fit into a 1bdrm at any of those resorts, but that means dad and the two kids on pull-outs in the living room.

If money is an issue a 1 bedroom at AKV Kidani(2 bathrooms!) or OKW due to extra space might work.

There will be some that disagree with me but what about a family suite at Art of Animation - there is plenty of room - Grandparent in the master bedroom with master bath and everyone else in the front half - I did it this past Thanksgiving and it was nice. Grandparent could shut the door and get away from the rest of us.
