Passport storage

Please tell me if there is some kind of around the neck carrier that would house 3 passports. We are doing Aquaventure at Atlantis and I'm nervous about using their lockers. Thanks

You should leave them on the ship in the room safe. Just bring copies with you.

Leave then on the ship in the room safe. You won't need them when you get off ship, just your key card you will need to get back on ship.

You will need your key card and photo id (license) to get back on the ship.

I concur, DO NOT take them off the ship! Leave them in the safe. Those over 17 just need photo ID (Driver's license) and KTTW.

Passengers have a greater chance of losing a passport or getting it stolen than the chance they'd have a health emergency in port, so DCL "requests" that you leave passports in the room safe.

In case of emergency, the ship's crew would be responsible for getting your original passport out of the safe and getting it to you. In theory.

Nobody would be able to convince me to enter a foreign country without my passport...
How about some version of these?

Sorry but this is not a ship responsibility. It is something they can do upon request

Leave it in the safe. Too great a chance it could get lost or stolen.

In theory sounds great but until someone missed the port time how would they know to go grab passports out of someone's safe... There was another thread that someone posted about advice from the state department that said to always carry your passport.... Regardless of travel method, odd why cruises are the only ones who recommend leaving passports in a room safe...

Theory is that if you only have a copy with you, you will be stuck waiting to get an emergency passport which means you will be stuck in the foreign port for a few days at the least. If you had your passport with you you could immediately catch a flight to your next port or home.

I do wonder if the reason dcl and other cruises request this is more due to the trouble that this would cause them if passengers who were not aware they had a passport lost or stolen arrived back in the us, customs and border protection wouldn't allow them to enter on a copy. Reason why airlines check and confirm entry docs before you leave bc if you are denied entry

Here's the thing. You have 100% chance if needing it to get off the ship. The chance if you getting stuck in port on a Disney sponsored excursion is minuscule. I am a seasoned cruiser (and with lines other than DCL) and there is a reason they advise you to leave it on the ship.
If you did get stranded in the Bahamas, it likely would not take days to get a passport since one has already been issued to you. Now if you are stranded while traveling on a birth certificate and do not currently have an active passport, in theory it could take longer.

Again, these are unlikely scenarios. I know several ppl (my parents included) who have had their ID stolen in Nassau. Trust me, that's an absolute nightmare. Since you do have to bring photo ID, please keep them secure.

As far as I know states will also do ID cards. Same place as driver's licenses, but they aren't licenses.
