Well PAID IN FULL!! Only 130 days till we leave!!

Worked on our trip a little bit last month or so. We changed our car reservation and plan on picking it up on June 1st and driving to Canada Sunday evening. I haven’t decided where we are gonna stay now. Anyone know a place that holds 5 people in it in Vancouver? So now, I may change my Seattle hotel since we will be there only one overnight. May Priceline/hotwire it. I did book “The Market Experience” with Seattle Free Walking Tours. Also booked our whale watching with Orca Enterprises. Oh and did book our return flights from Seattle on 6/11. Will likely take the Bolt Bus back to Seattle on 6/10 and stay overnight in hotel by airport (again Priceline/hotwire). Looking at booking a Vancouver city highlights tour the day of disembarkation through Landsea tours. Hopefully post cruise, I can score a stay at Club Intrawest Vancouver using by DVC points. I would use it to stay the night before the cruise, but the rooms don’t look like they will hold 5 people.

We do have a little kink in our planning…we had 12 inches of snow/-40 degree wind chills a few weeks ago and the kids missed and entire week of school. SO…now the last day of school has been pushed into the week we are on the cruise. I knew this was a risk going into it. We will be likely calling my eldest in for the day he will miss being on the cruise. I just hope there are no more snow days!!!

Will book my Palo brunch/dinners and Ketchikan excursions when on board booking opens up on 3/4.

Quick question... Will you be able to book the Bearing Sea Crab Fisherman Tour with your youngest son being under 8? I haven't seen anything on the forums about how flexible the excursions are on children's age. I'm sailing on the Wonder on 6/9 and have a DS(7) and we wanted to book that trip also.

Thanks!

I was looking at the wrong one and was getting worried. The Disney exclusive one with the crew dinner lists the child ages as 8 and 9.

http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/cr...ur-and-dinner/

I think I'd rather do the one you linked and just plan on eating in town or on the ship.

Thanks Again!

I'm following along too! I need to start a PTR as I am a major planner. Myself and my 5 yo son will be on the 9 nighter right before your cruise! I CANNOT WAIT! I booked opening day, I couldn't even wait til we sailed last May to score an OBB so unfortunately I don't have credits from DCL but I went through a TA and have some that way.

I never thought of using DVC points for a hotel in Vancouver! DUH! I did book awhile ago in the Pan Pacific for before and after the cruise, then our cruise found out our trip isn't leaving from the Canada Place pier but Ballantyne pier and then returning to Canada Place. Apparently Disney is supposed to have a shuttle between the 2 piers because the only place to park IS Canada Place. We will survive though the other pier isn't far. I did get a great rate on the room by using the hotel's site for before the trip and going with their PIF price (yeah one less thing to worry about paying for right!) and then on the return, the hotel site wanted about $150 more than I pay before the cruise! I found Expedia had the same price I paid before the cruise for the time after and booked the PIF room through them. But again, I did this months ago.

My issue was going to be flights as I wasn't seeing anything under $750 pp! I always set up price alerts for trips through airfarewatchdog. Sure I always get alerts for flights to MCO haha. I wasn't seeing anything for Boston to YVR...ok, I had some time no worries, right? Then one day last year I got an alert for $350 pp! And it wasn't on a cargo plane and it was on a major carrier even! It leaves early from Boston which is ok because we get to YVR early, it doesn't leave early and arrive late like some I saw that were all day traveling, no I don't need a 7 hr layover in Houston with a 5 yo thank you! So I had flights and hotel booked long before the holidays Now the fun planning begins.

We are silver so we don't get to book until the 23 this month, gold and plat already opened up. I will pretty much go with all DCL excursions since being on my own with my kiddo, I want to know that we will be back on our boat for sure. I DID however book through Chillhook Charters a trip for the afternoon in Skagway, bus rid up past the border and then the White Pass down. I didn't think my kid would really care for sitting on a train for 3-4 hrs for a round trip.

Yup sooo excited! I can't wait to see your pics when you back. Btw, are you guys Boiler fans I may have to unfollow you if you aren't

Ha! My husband is actually a boiler fan...me...don't care too much.

I had not luck in getting the DVC resort...so now in the process of watching Hotwire and Priceline. I did get the Pan Pacific for 1st night post cruise. It prob wasn't the cheapest I could get if I waited but oh well.

Only 104 days left till we leave

Ok I can still follow

I watched the Pan's website as well as expedia and found that the prices range incredibly! I got the great rate before our cruise direct from the Pan then their rate was ridiculous after it so I started checking around. Expedia had the same price I paid before the cruise which I'm not kidding was $150ish less than what the Pan wanted for the same night...sold. Yeh they were both pre-pay fares but I know we are going so it's one less thing I have to pay for this summer

I'll be on the September 1st cruise so I'll look forward to following along with you. It's my soon to be 3 year old and I going and we're flying into Seattle and taking the train into Vancouver the day before the cruise. If he was older I might think about renting a car but I don't really want to lug the car seat with me the whole trip.

Enjoy your planning the trip will be here before you know it.

Well….only 80 more days until we leave!

I have been busy planning, planning, planning!! And our onboard booking window opened, so did a bit more planning.

So here is what I got so far!

May 31st – Fly into Seattle. Gonna start planning our 1 ½ days there this month. Any suggestions for a family of four (a teenager and 5 year old)? Staying at The Maxwell Hotel (got a decent price on Hotwire).

June 1st – Spend the morning seeing Seattle. Pick up rental car at 3p and pick up mom at Seattle airport around 4. Head to Vancouver. Stay the night at Sandman Signature by Vancouver Airport (got a good AAA rate for their suite).

June 2nd- Embark DCL! WOOT WOOT!

June 3rd- Day at Sea – Palo Brunch

June 4th – Day at Sea/Glaciers

June 5th – Skagway – DH and DS (17) doing Grizzly Falls Ziplining, Me, DM, DS (5) doing Takshanuk Mountain Trail 4x4. Palp Dinner (our 10 yr wedding anniversary is this day). Booked this through DCL.

June 6th – Juneau – Whale watching with Orca Enterprises & visiting Tracy’s King Crab Shack. Booked this on our own.

June 7th – Ketchikan – Bering Sea Crab Fishermen’s Tour (DM isn’t doing this). Booked this on our own.

June 8th – Day at Sea

June 9th – Disembark…..soooooo sad Spend day exploring Vancouver (starting to plan this too). Mom leaves from Vancouver around 1pm. Staying at the Pan Pacific this night (again Hotwire deal). Again looking for any suggestions?!

June 10th – Spend day exploring Vancouver. Booked train back to Seattle (the late trip). Spend night at Radisson Hotel Gateway (Hotwire deal).

June 11th – Leave for home.

Well there you have it!

Dawn

Driving up from Seattle on the day of us definitely feasible but leave early!!! It will take about three hours us border time which can be between 10 minutes and three hours. Plan on three hours!! When you get to the port, check your luggage. You cN then either walk over to harbour Center (5 minute walk) and go up the observation tower, explore gastown, again 5 minutes away, or if you have an hour, take the sea us over to lonsdale quay market. I know Vancouver inside and out so feel free to pm me!

Hello Freesia, since you know Yancouver - any advice? We are staying at the PanWaterfront across teh street from the DCL terminal the day before our cruise and will NOT have a car- any places fun to visit in walk, taxi distance? Also do you know if there is a small grocery store in that area? I wanted to buy some bottled water for the room- hate tap.
thanks!

Hello - quick question - do you happen to know ( or anyone out there!) which nighs are formal-semi formal nights? and which nights they offer the special dinner menu? I heard one night is taste of Alaska, and one is Toy story- which is also heavy on seafood, -we LOVE seafood, so I don't want to miss these.
Any advice- is welcome.. thanks!
