Ecv and room requests...

We are heading to Disney World in June...staying at the Poly June 17-22 and then transferring over to POR June 22-26. We will have an ECV for my sister who will be with us (she's diabetic and has bad feet). Just have a few questions.

1. We have a standard room at the Poly, where would be the best place to request a room?

2. We have a water view room at POR. Does that mean it's a preferred room? If so, where should we request to be? There are a lot of different buildings and since we've never stayed there not real sure what would be best, especially with the electric wheelchair.

Thank you!! Getting excited!!! Watching the snow fall and dreaming of June

I can give you a little bit of information for the Poly. Actually, Tikiman's website has all the information I think you are looking for:

I think you can reserve a handicap ready room. If you didn't do so I would think you could call Disney or your travel agent to have that adjusted.

I'll bet (but not sure) that bell service could take care of storing your ECV each day, but I'm not sure.

And here is another spot for you (thanks to a tikiman link):

We reserved a standard/garden view room at the Poly back in December 2011 and specifically asked for a room with easy accessibility to the Grand Ceremonial House. DH used a large rental ECV and the room we were given was a first floor room in Rarotonga; great for easy access to everything. This building is immediately to the right of the GCH and provided good access to the monorail, TTC and all we needed. The room itself was easy to plug the battery in for recharging and had plenty of room for parking the ECV (and much better than the standard room we had the Royal Pacific Hotel at Universal).

We had not requested anything other than easy access to the GCH and loved it. FYI - If you are driving and have a Handicapped Parking Pass the Valet will park your car for free at the Poly; but we tipped as well. The Valet/Luggage Service also accepted delivery of the ECV and arranged for switching when we requested a different ECV during our stay.
Check out my Disney pics here!

Only certain ("preferred") companies can now leave mobility device rentals with Bell Services. See the disABILITIES forum/FAQ for specific information.

It's not a good idea to leave the ECV with Bell Services for overnight care. It will fit in any room, and the renter is responsible for it.

A water view room at POR isn't necessarily a Preferred room. The Preferrred rooms are in four buildings only of the Alligator Bayou section, and this section doesn't have elevators.

Actually, POR doesn't have a water view category - it has pool view and river view. I would recommend checking out this site for information about the different views and what to request:

You can click on each building to see where rooms of each category are located.
