I am planning to take tons of pictures this time. I have booked a room at Comfort Suites so that we can go to Atlantis for the day, so that will be something different for us. We have never been on the Magic so we are looking forward to a new adventure. I will report back!
Is it cheaper to do that than paying for a day pass?
I am so excited about the mixology class. We are traveling with 9 adults and that would be a great class for us to take together. Thanks for your TR! It is so complete and helpful. It gets me excited for our trip. 34 days until our DREAM.

Hi! Everything I have found indicates that a day pass is around $120 for adults and $80 for kids. We booked a room at the comfort suites for $304 for 2 adults and 2 kids so this is a significant savings over booking thru DCL. You may want to visit the comfort suites website and compare prices to insure you get the best price.

We really enjoyed the mixology and look forward to trying it again on the Magic. Thanks so much for reading my report! I'm glad I could help. Have a great cruise.

Thank you so much for the great and detailed report! We have cruised many times before but this will be our DS's and his family's first cruise experience, so I am going to make sure that he reads all of your posts. We keep telling him all that Disney offers and sometimes we don't think he believes us. He thinks we must be exaggerating. We just keep telling them 'Uh-huh, just wait... You won't want to disembark'.

Trina - we had an amazing time on our cruise. Thanks to your trip report I was well informed. We did Express walk off- awesome. We were in line @ 6:50AM to walk off and were eating breakfast at Tusker House (Animal Kingdom) @ 8:45AM! Loved Palo - we did brunch (So good - Chicken Parm w/ Risotto & the sticky buns were our favorites!!) & dinner (chocolate soufflé - was so amazing!!) We rebooked a four night for the whole family for Dec. 2014. Thanks again for everything! Merry Christmas.

I am so glad that you had a wonderful time! I can't wait to try Palo Brunch. I have heard so much about that awesome chicken parm. Yummy

I'm really glad that my trip report helped you to feel more prepared for your cruise. Was the ship beautiful with the Christmas decorations? I bet it was. I really hope that we can cruise while its decorated one year. I was really hoping for early Dec. 2014 but we are booked on the Magic in April 2014 and my DH and I have decided to spend a week in Vegas without our boys so......

We just moved up our family trip in Dec '14 on the Dream to March '14 on the Magic. DH is turning 40 in March and he wants to celebrate with the whole family. Plus sadly we have been bitten by the "Disney cruise bug" & we did not think we could wait until Dec. So sad!

So now I am researching what a cruise looks like with 3 boys. For our Dec '13 cruise I skipped all the kid stuff and concentrated on adult only information. It is like planning a first cruise all over again.

To answer your question- yes the ship was decorated very pretty for Christmas!! Loved the tree in the atrium & the gingerbread house. Looking forward to seeing what a cruise ship looks like "un-decorated" in March.

Off to plan a cruise with kids...

I don't know how I'm only just seeing this! I hope you have a fantastic family cruise on the Magic. You've got to report back and tell me about the Magic since you are sailing before me.

I know ur trip was last year but I came across ur TR & am enjoying it! Already on page 2. We went as a family of 4 on fantasy last June (it was our 2nd DCL cruise). We had the family ocean view stateroom & loved it! Didn't want a verandah yet as our kids were still young. Will read more later!

Thanks for reading! We loved the family oceanview stateroom that we had on the Dream in 2012.

We cruise the Magic in 62 days so I am thinking of starting a pre trip report for our cruise and our 2 day stay at POR. I will post the link here for anyone that's interested in taking the journey with us.

I can't tell you how convenient and quick it was having our car there and not having to wait for a shuttle. We tried a hotel with shuttle service in 2012 and found it "okay" but I like to be in charge of when I get to the port and how quickly I get on the road home. We may try one of the area hotel/motels that offer 40% off parking at the port to save money for our 7 night next year but then again, we really liked the Double Tree. We will see.....but either way we will be parking at the port. Do we need trip insurance- Only you can decide if you and your family need trip insurance. We did NOT purchase insurance for this cruise since it was a relatively inexpensive trip. We did however get insurance for our 5 night last year and I purchased trip insurance through Travel Guard for our upcoming 7 night cruise. I wasn't as concerned about our 3 night but with our 7 night easily costing over $5000 before excursions/hotels/etc. I wasn't willing to risk not having it. I purchased it within 14 days of making our deposit onboard so that it would cover any pre-existing conditions. Also, with Travel Guard Gold, kids are free. Is the food good on DCL- I see this ALOT. Food is very subjective and what I may like you may not. With that being said, I enjoy most of the food on DCL. I did not enjoy much of my lunch in Royal Palace but I absolutely love dinner in Royal Palace. I didn't care for the pasta pursettes in AP last year but loved them this year. I did not have the pirate menu on our 3 night but I did not enjoy it at all last year. It was by far my least favorite menu. Try something and if you don't care for it just get something else. Order as much or as little as you would like. Mixology- We loved mixology and look forward to doing it again next year. The cost is $15 per person and in my opinion, it's a real bargain for the number of drinks that you get. We had lots of fun going behind the bar and mixing drinks. The bartender prepared us 4 drinks then we all had a shot plus "tastes" of 3 other drinks. I highly recommend this class. Lots of fun. Bringing your own alcohol onboard-We brought more than we needed because we ended up buying quite a few of the drinks of the day instead of what we brought but we will still bring some on in the future. Since we don't fly it really isn't inconvenient for us. We brought the opened bottles of liquor home with us so yeah, it was worth if for us.
Your comments were right on target & I completely agree!
