I'm the same way. We're Floridians, so even 70 is too cold for us. But, this past Jan we stayed at Kidani and it was pretty chilly at night. We still took our sons to the pool. We loved it. The warm water felt really good. But, getting out was def hard! We had to wrap like 4 towels around our sons, lol.

Anyway, to the OP, can you book at POR instead? POR is a beautiful resort. It's our favorite Mod actually. Our sons really loved the pool there, too.

What's more important to you guys? Ease of transportation or convenience of the pool?

If it's ease of transportation, stick with POFQ. It's a quick 10 minute walk to POR. Just keep in mind that the main pool at POR is quite small (in my opinion) and is pretty crowded when they're not having guests come over from POFQ, so it may be a little hectic. If you guys don't mind going to one of the other pools at POR, you may have a little more luck with it being quiet.

If you prefer convenience of the pool, I would go with CBR. The property is larger and, of course, the transportation system is a little monotonous, but I love the theme and the atmosphere of the resort. The pools are plentiful, too, so you won't really have to deal with one being too overly crowded.

I agree with Freckles04, I would book a preferred room at POR. It's kind of sad to see an empty pool.

Also, take the term "heated" with a grain of salt. We were there at the end of Oct/beginning of Nov last year and the pool at the Poly was freezing! There was also a cold snap and we didn't swim for the first few days.

Hopefully, whichever resort you choose has a better heater!

I'd say you'd probably like all of the other moderates, too. I'd probably switch to either POR or CBR. Your son would enjoy either one. The boat ride to DD is a nice feature of PO, and the fishin' hole, too.

If you can deal with the double beds then your son may like CBR. It seems to have a great pool and if it is the resort I am thinking of they have pirate theme rooms where the beds look like a pirate ship. We were going to stay there but we have three kids and it would be a bit tight so we decided on POR.

We are staying at the FQ during February, and while I know the pool is closed, does anyone know about the hot tub? Will that at least remain open?

I agree with this. While POFQ is just a short walk it will get old fast with 8 year olds that of to the pool a lot. Who wants to walk that length if it is cold and you are wet.

From what I was reading, the hot tub will vary.

We're also staying at POFQ at the end of Feb. and I wasn't thrilled with this news. Here's hoping for an early opening!

I did confirm with Disney that they are running shuttles to POR for their pools.

There are so many pools at POR. Once you've done the walk once and know it it won't feel so long the next time. And if the walk to POR is a bother, do NOT book a pirate room at CBR when pool use is in question. We don't find the distances to be a problem, but if it is a consideration, you aren't gaining anything over staying at POFQ and using pools at POR, vs a pirate room at CBR. In my opinion.

I know because my brother lives in San Diego and has a pool, and we talk a lot about it. His wife won't go in it unless it is heated in the 90s. But if he does that he can't swim for exercise without risking heatstroke. When he has it at 75 (if he is only expecting that it will be him in the pool) if the weather matches that it feels COLD until you swim briskly for a good amount of time. The sun really only heats up the top of the water not the whole thing. And his pool isn't even the size of a typical quiet pool at Disney.
